Have recently emigrated from England where ran a successful cleaning business. I want to start the same in Canada but understand I have the elements to deal with! Do window cleaners add anything to their water in order to be able to work more of the year (I understand that heavy winter is impractical) & is there anything to use in the hot weather to help the water in the sun? Any help would be much appreciated!

Alchol is often used as the antifreeze for window washing. Not in cars though as it can damage the paint. IOn summer a janitor supply will have several products, one containing glycerin provides lubrication for the squeegee to help prevent streaks.

What do Window cleaners do with patterned Windows?

Window cleaners usually use a squeegee on Windows but what about patterned windows like french doors that wont allow the squeegee to get access to? Do they have ti do it long way?

I know a window cleaner. He does not wash windows in the rain. He waits for the next clear day to do his work.

I know window cleaners often clean our gutters. Would you ask the window cleaner to mow the lawn? How much would you pay him? £10? Should he take the cuttings away? Should he bring his own mower? his own power supply? Would it be our of order to ask him to wash a car? What can and can't you ask them to do? what's the determining factor?

I don't know about that. If he does odd jobs then yes, but I don't think most window cleaners would. But its always worth an ask. As for payment, I think £10 is rather stingy, but I guess it depends on how big your lawn is. If its just a 10 minute job then £10 is ok, but if its a longer job I think you need to be prepared for him to ask a lot more. Our window cleaner charges £70 to do windows, inside and out but I'm in London, might be less elsewhere.

My grandmother always had clean shiny windows. 'Todays commerciqal window cleaners seem to leave a film and streak the window after a day or two. My grandmother mixed her own from simple household ingredients. Does anyone have an old fashioned recipe? I know that drier sheets will leave a film on cleaning rags so I don't use them.

Streaking windows come from using petroleum distillate products such as Windex. The vinegar solutions work good but using packing paper w/o ink shines better. also to keep from recleaning as often, put five drops of RAIN/X in your spray solutions to make raindrops sheet down the window instead of spotting. remember to wipe one direction on the inside and another on the outside. that lets u know which side of the window is smeared. good luck...

How soon can I wash my car after having my windows tinted?

I just had my windows tinted on my vehicle this morning. How long do I have to wait before I can take it to the car wash? I understand the tinting is on the inside, but are the window cleaners safe in it yet?

Basically every one of these areas will have window cleaners- but the whole area will not be covered. Many houses will not have window cleaners- perhaps they are looking for reliable ones who will do a good job all year round. Pick out some streets and do some canvassing on a saturday morning and get a feel for the area.
