Question answered by alrosher

Get a couple of quotes from local builders but I'd look to allow around £500 - £600 per square metre all in. This should cover your groundworks, foundations, drainage, electric, professional fees, planning and building warrant fees, structure, cladding and doors/windows. If you're looking to build a concrete pre-fab, then there are a number of companies on-line who will provide designs and help with planning permission/building warrant and then deliver and erect the building. If you live somewhere quite rural, try contacting someone local who puts up sheds for farmers. The price of steel is pretty high at the moment and will probably keep rising to fuel construction demand in asia - so don't hang around too long and get a fixed price from your builders if possible.

difference between post steel and all steel buildings?

I am building a garage that is 30 x 30 and I am currently getting estimates. I have three to four options, Block walls, stick built, post steel and all steel. I am not quite sure what the differences are in post steel and all steel buildings. I know all steel buildings have steel posts, walls, trusses and roof, but I thought post steel was about the same thing. Anybody able to clarify for me?

Question answered by Tedruski

I've been a General Contractor for 30 yrs. Post Steel is not a term I am familiar with and we do both commercial and residential projects. Here are the types I know of and are ranked at how costly they are starting with the most expensive per sq. foot. #1. Block Walls #2. Pre-engineered steel building #3. Stick Built #4. Pole barn This is based on 900 square feet Once you get over 4,000 sq feet Pre-engineered steel buildings are cheaper than stick built. Pre-engineered steel buildings also have unrestricted bay height as there are no ceiling joists.

How can steel frame buildings like WTC building 7 fall completely in one go?

Yet in other steel frame buildings they have to spend months setting up explosive charges. Why don't demolition people just set fire to a building if that all it takes? Thank you Michael but WTC7 did fall in it's own footprint and was not hit by any plane. The damage caused by falling steel from the twin towers was not enough to bring it down. Other buildings closer had just as much damage.

Question answered by Luke

Building 7 was the third skyscraper to be reduced to rubble on September 11, 2001. According to the government, fires, primarily, leveled this building, but fires have never before or since destroyed a steel skyscraper. The team that investigated the collapse were kept away from the crime scene. By the time they published their inconclusive report in May, 2002, the evidence had been destroyed. Why did the government rapidly recycle the steel from the largest and most mysterious engineering failure in world history, and why has the media remained silent? The BBC and CNN also both reported the collapse of Building 7 more than twenty minutes before it actually fell. The misreporting not only stands out as a glaring error-- with the WTC 7 building still visibly standing in the background of the shot, but begs the question: how did BBC, BBC 24 and CNN all know in advance that Building 7 would collapse, when no steel building has ever collapsed from fires alone?

What is the cheapest way to build a workshop?

I want to build an art studio on my land. I have looked at steel buildings, and i want to know if there is a cheaper way to build a large open area space. very simple, a few outlets, maybe one bathroom, but on the whole, a large open space with maybe a garage type door. maybe wood frame like a barn, or cinder blocks. i also want some good windows for light. does anyone know how much something like this would cost?

Question answered by Lou d

Look at a "Pole Barn" design or Post and Lentil perimeter with pre-engineered trusses @ 4' on center w/metal roof. You can dry your building (means all the way to roof completion) and later place a concrete foundation later. Most farm and ranch supply stores have building packages that you can just order from a catalog. I get at least 5 or 6 quotes from different manufactures. You'd be suprised how much the can vary. Just remember, have them quote apples to apples. Do not change specifications.

What are the odds that both twin towers and building 7 would just collapse so easily like that?

large steel buildings like that should not fall down from a plane hitting it. What are the odds that both twin towers would fall down and building 7 when no planes even hit it? Theres gotta be more to the story than that. It doesnt look right.

Question answered by GoGo Girls

so easily? You think two Jets full of fuel and PEOPLE was easy? How about the thousands on the ground that died? It doesn't look right to you because you have not bothered to understand anything about structural engineering of the twin towers, or any other science for that matter.

Why do the movies glamourize criminals but in real life their lives are not as great?

For example, look at he movie Scarface. They show the criminals in the film living in huge palaces and mansions. But in real life , drug cartel leaders don't live in such nice places. The factories they use to make their drugs are just labs in the middle of the jungle instead of in big nicely built steel buildings. Also in the movies these guys are good looking. In real life they look like they have not showered in days and are very ugly. Why does Hollywood do this?

Curious

Question answered by Jeff

1. Hollywood glamorizes everything. 2. If you get as big as Scarface (who wasn't that attractive), you're gonna live in a house like he did. Very few drug lords get that big, but the ones that do are REALLY rich... (i.e.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablo_Escobar ) They do it because it's what people pay to see. Ugly dirty people don't sell movie tickets. Why have sculptors throughout history always made sculptures of 'perfect' and beautiful people? All art forms have done this, and Hollywood is just as guilty as anyone else.
