Are there snooker tables in the good time emporium or anywhere else in Boston Massachusets?

I have read answers to another persons question about if there are any snooker tables in Boston. The person asking the question asked if there are any (besides from the good time emporium). Is this the emporium in Somerville and are there tables there. I am moving to Somerville in Boston for the summer, I've just started getting into snooker and was wondering if I'd bring my cue or not.

The Good Time Emporium in question is in Somerville. I never checked on the snooker tables, so I can't confirm if they have them or not. The link below used to mention that they had a snooker table, but doesn't mention it anymore, so I'm not sure if they got rid of it. Might want to call them up to make sure.

Is it okay to use a snooker cue in a game of eight ball?

I'm starting to get into pool and decided to buy my own cue. I like the European taper on snooker cues more then the pro tapers on American pool cues, but I'm not sure if it's okay for me to use a snooker cue for eight ball. I know it's allowed, but I heard the wood can split easily and tips will have to be replaced very often when playing American billiards with a snooker cue. Can anyone confirm this?

There is no reason you shouldn't be able to use a Snooker cue in American Pool. If you want to use a Snooker cue, than go ahead and use a Snooker cue.

It's perfectly fine to use a snooker cue to play pool, but I would recommend against using it to break. That's the only time there would be a realistic chance you could break the shaft. There are also several pool cue companies that have shafts available with conical tapers (like snooker cues) but larger tips. The Predator Z2 shaft, as well as the OB Cues OB-2 shaft both have European tapers, but those are just two examples. That may be something to look into, but again, if you're comfortable with a snooker cue, that's perfectly fine.

How difficult is snooker compared to pools as in billiards ?

In recent years, more and more young people are playing pools than snooker. Wonder if it is very much a fashion and fad thing...

Snooker is much more difficult. It's all about bank shots and angles, and where you leave the cue ball.

Chris

Question answered by Akaash

There are four basic sizes to a cue: 1) Length 2)Tip Size 3)Weight 4)Butt Size 1)Length-The length of the snooker cue should be 57"-58". 2)Tip Size-9.5mm is the exact size of the cue tip. 3)Weight-Most snooker and pool cues today weigh between 17-20 oz.The cues balanced between 16"-18" should be exact. 4)Butt Size-28.5-30 mm would be the perfect size.

How much money in pounds would it cost to go to the world snooker champs and get close up?

I want to go to the world snooker champs next year and i want to know how much it would cost.

Question answered by The Whirlwind

it would depend entirely which match you get tickets for. And as for getting close up, that would depend on how early you book your tickets. For example, I got two tickets for both sessions of the 2007 WCS final (afternoon & evening) and i applied in early january. I ended up sitting in the front row for one session and the second row for the second. Tickets costed £97.00 per person for both sessions. There is usually a 14 day time-scale of first booked, first served from when first available and then after that all tickets would be randomly assigned seats. You also have to remember that the player's friends, family, manager and snooker officials etc (WPBSA board members usually attend the final of the WC) will have priority seating in some cases, so the 1st row will not always be available. To be honest, when you go to the Crucible, every seat in the house is a good one in my opinion, you are so close to the players and the tables that even in 4th, 5th or 6th row it would seem like 1st or 2nd at most other events. Pricing doesn't vary too much each year. Ticket costing per person for each session, is usually; £10 - £15 1st round & 2nd round (Morning and afternoon sessions) £15 - £20 1st round & 2nd round (Evening session) £15 - £20 Quarter finals (Morning & afternoon sessions) £20 - £25 Quarter finals (Evening session) £20 - £30 Semi final (All sessions) £40 - £60 Final (All sessions)

How do I mark a pooltable and snooker table?

I have just put a new carpet on my pool and snooker table and need the correct measurements on how I need to mark the table again, draw the lines in other words.

Question answered by straight_shooter526

A couple of things: First of all, you have a snooker AND pool table? These are typically different games and are played on different types of tables. I can tell you that you aren't required to make any markings on a traditional pool table. The diamonds mark where the headstring is and the foot spot indicates where the apex ball will be placed. I am not an expert on snooker table markings, but I know that the "D" needs to be marked. If you are looking for actual dimensions, you will find them for both pool and snooker tables in the BCA handbook. M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

what is the greatest number of contacts with the cushion when potting a ball in snooker?

When potting, or failing to pot, a ball in snooker, the ball may "wipe its feet", bouncing back and forth in the mouth of the pocket. How many touches can a ball make before falling into the pocket or bouncing back out? What is the record?

Owney

Question answered by Alex

I tried researching the answer to your question using sources like google and wikipedia, but couldn't find anything helpful. I've been playing pool for a long time, and I have never heard of a "record" in snooker for the most times a ball has rattled in the pocket before falling in. Although your question is very interesting, I highly doubt that you'll get an accurate answer. Sorry, I tried :(
