How do you find a sewing contractor?
I am unexperienced in the field of design and clothing, but I have a revolutionary clothing idea. I want to create and sell my product, but I need to know the steps. What are sewing contractors, exactly, and how do I find one that will work with an unexperienced business/design person?

There's plenty of work to be had, but you need to learn how to sew first. Your clients won't be very willing to pay for something poorly sewn.

Where is a good place/good company to work with to produce swimwear designs in Dallas, TX?
I have my first samples that I have sewn myself and my patterns that I have created in Illustrator. This will be my first year going into production, assuming that I can get enough orders placed. So basically I am looking for dependable sewing contractors who can produce small lots and can also grade my patterns and help me with some pattern adjustments. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Are you a patternmaker? I suspect that what you really need to do is send your designs to a patternmaker with experience in swimwear, with fabric samples for each one, for patternmaking. Your patternmaker should know who can produce the goods for you if you can't.

The National Association of Manufacturers has a buyer's guide; Thomas Net has a register of suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers. Another database you might find useful is MadeinUSA.org.

It really depends on what you will be happiest with.
I know a girl that did the buying for Macy's at one time and they had these halter tops by Tommy in that were really ugly. And they sold for something close to $80 a top. she told me they bought them for 2 a top. So no matter what they clearanced out on they still made a profit.

What does a sewing pattern look like and example?
I'm trying to prepare sewing patterns for a manufacturer to make my product. Another company is going to charge me $100 to design EACH pattern! So I'm going to make my own patterns.
Can someone please provide a pattern that a manufacturer would use? Is it similar to the standard pattern that grandmas use to make clothes?

Stop. Go over to http://www.fashion-incubator.com and start reading. http://fashion-incubator.com/products_services/table-of-contents/do-you-need-a-pattern-maker/ http://fashion-incubator.com/archive/how-to-know-if-you-need-digital-or-paper-patterns/ for starters. Production patterns are quite a bit different from home sewing patterns, different format, different seam allowances, color coding, meaningful notches. Especially, read: http://fashion-incubator.com/archive/how_to_hire_a_pattern_maker_pt46/
Yes, you need Kathleens book.
It's great to give your patternmaker sewn prototypes, homemade patterns, etc. But you probably need a pro to produce something that a contractor will be willing to sew.

So that you make your costs and at least what a good hairdresser in your area makes an hour. If business is slow, raise your rates and give a discount to your original customers. If you get too much business, raise your rates.
Common charges around me for someone sewing with commercial patterns is $15-20 per pattern piece. Patternmaking is usually $70-100/hr.

A sewing contractor works with a designer to make large quantities of a garment. Sewing contractors need tech sheets; samples; and bundled and marked lots Since you likely have no idea what any of that meant, then what you are looking for is a dressmaker/seamstress/tailor, not a contractor. You might need to find several and parcel out the lot, that's quite a lot of work for one person in a short amount of time, and many are book their work months in advance. Look in the phone book under dressmakers or go to a fabric store. Most fabric stores have bulletin boards where dressmakers post their business cards.
