Can I change salvage title to clean title in Texas?

My 02 dodge ram 1500 has a salvage title when i bought it from from a salvage dealer, however it was never damaged or destroyed just stolen. They stole the leather seats, tires, rims and radio/speakers. After I bought it I add leather seats, 22' rims with big tires, and touchscreen radio. Can I change it to clean title in Texas?

Santiago Lulcas

Question answered by Avid

No once it has been stolen it will carry a salvage title, however if it's a nice ride many people will still buy it but just not for as much. I have built many cars with salvage titles and never had a problem selling them and tell the buyer it had a marked title straight up, and still sold them. They can be totaled for many reasons and stolen is one and it can't be retitled with a clean title now for the last several years. This is to keep people from purchasing a car that had a damaged title on it. hope this helps.

How do I remove water/moisture from a gas tank?

This is a gas tank for my mini van that I am replacing.I bought it from a salvage dealer and it had water in it.

kenneth b

Question answered by Neebler

I guess you can't just dump it out or you would have already. If its just a little moisture, there are gas additives you can get in the auto store to make it mix with the gas and work it through the system. If there's a lot of water, install the fuel pump and pump it out with that, then use the gas additive for the remaining moisture.

How Much Should I Pay for this Salvaged Mazda 3?

Hey guys, I decided to go with a reasonable first car. I'm looking for a used 2010-12 Mazda 3 Sedan on Craigslist in CA. The ones I've found are salvage so the pricing should be substantially lower than the retail price. I plugged in all the info on Edmunds & this particular Mazda 3's iSport Automatic retail price is at $11,480 for a car in 'Average' condition. I read that a salvage is no more worth than half the 'Average' retail price on Edmunds, NADA, etc. This owner is offering the car at $9500 with 48,000 miles. I ran a AutoCheck on the car & it has 2 reported crashes with 3 owners. The first crash occurred when it uses to be a rental car & it was bought fron an auto auction. Now, AutoCheck might not always be accurate but it also states that it is a 'Prior Salvage' & lists it as a 'Junk Vehicle'. From the pictures, everything looks good, but my dad will bring 2 very trained mechanics to check the car out too. I took off 50% off the used 'Average' retail price & my total comes out to $5,740. Older people have also told me that I should never pay more than 4-5K for a salvage because dealers would offer less. How much should I offer? I realize they want to make a profit also. Here's the link: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/3666780908.html. Thank you, much appreciated.

How do I salvage building materials in Northern Illinois?

I am wondering how people get started or find used/ recycled building materials (wood etc). Obviously I could buy them from a salvaged materials dealer but how I can do this myself? I have several projects on the burner and am just trying to figure out where to begin.

Question answered by mcbethbuilders

The real question is, what are you looking for? If you are looking for lumber, ask someone that removes and replaces it. If you are looking for old hardware or plumbing fixtures then talk to a plumber. If you don't want to go to a dealer, go to their source. Bypass the dealer and contact the contractors that tear out the materials. For the most basic start, contact your local Home Builders Association to get a list of contractors that may work in the area you are looking.

if some parts are provided by a salvage dealer, does it mean that these parts are used and renewed?

Any difference between the products provided by a dealer and by a salvage dealer?

Kat

Question answered by 2WD

SALVAGE DEALER is a junk yard or chop shop. Front end collission probably leaves back end or side parts completely viable. Back end or T-Bone leaves motor probably good condition. Dealer parts are waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy more expensive. They come from factory and on a piece by piece basis are crazy priced. Go with whatever your insurance company recommends. TWD

Where online is the largest and most comprehensive place to search for salvaged auto parts?

I am having a hard time finding a front axle housing for my 04 liberty... is there any one website that has a wide-ranging search for parts? Would be great if it included salvage yards, dealers, auctions etc.

Adam

Question answered by J D

Don't know if this is the largest...but it is nation-wide and has a lot of resources. Check out http://car-part.com/ Somebody here suggested them to me the other day, and they seem to be pretty good. I haven't actually used them, so feel free to comment and let me know if you found what you were looking for. Good luck!

How to turn a salvaged title into a restoration title?

I bought a motorcycle in Ohio with a salvaged title, the dealer told me it had been dropped. Well i need to get a restoration title for it in Indiana where i live. Its telling me I need to know what happened to it, who replaced it and what was replaced. And im pretty sure it was illegal for them to sell it to me without giving me all that information. And it still has the scratches on it from being dropped, meaning no one restored it. What do i do? PLEASE HELP THIS IS REDICULOUS!

Indestructible89

Question answered by oklatom

All they had to do in Ohio to sell you the motorcycle was to reveal it had a salvage title. Apparently they did, telling you it had been dropped, and you went ahead and bought it anyway, as is. Now, since you live in Indiana their laws are in effect. This is what you will need. Rebuilt Vehicle Title If you've repaired your vehicle to the point where it can be operated on Indiana's highways, you may apply for a rebuilt vehicle title. To do this, you will need to have Salvage State Form 44606, Affidavit of Restoration for a Salvage Motor Vehicle. You may also pick up a copy of the form at any license agency. An Indiana police officer will need to complete a physical inspection of the vehicle, as well as check the vehicle and its components for theft. Make sure to save all receipts, bills of sale and other ownership documents used in the purchase of major component parts. The police officer will need to examine all of this paperwork. Additionally, all of the parts information (including name of the part, source vehicle identification number, name and address of the supplier, date of purchase and cost) will need to be recorded on the form. If everything checks out fine, the police officer will complete and sign the report. Your next step will be to take the form back to the license agency. Bring along your salvage title, as you will need to surrender it. Once you have paid the $9 fee, you will be given a "rebuilt vehicle" title. ------------------------ Get the form and start gathering your information, or sell it and cut your losses.

Where to buy cheap office furniture?

I want to buy a desk for my home. I would like a nice one, not a cheapy flimsy one. In this economic climate where a lot of businesses are unfortunately closing down, where can I go to buy a desk (almost new) from a company which is liquidated? Does anyone know any salvage dealers which may have these desks? I only want one, but am looking for good quality at a reduced price. Thank you for the help.

how to proceed after buying salvage vehicle?

please tell me step by step on how to proceed. car is already fixed when bought. Title is still salvaged (private dealer bought from geico) How do I register the car now? car is still at the dealer's place. How can i drive to the DMV without having plates on the car? im confused NYC What about the salvage examination by the DMV?

Student

Question answered by leftuncheckd

I own 2 salvage title vehicles. Registration works the same as a regular titled car. No difference. You should call your insurance agent from the dealership and give them the Vin# and confirm that you are insured before you drive off the lot. The dealer normally gives you 30/60 day Temp Tags that are either taped to your back license plate or the cars back glass. That's been my procedure anyway. Really the only difference at all is the way your title will read. It will have a "salvage" notation on it. And thats all there is to it.
