If you're going to open a restaurant, it would be ideal to have a background in financing business and a little bit of culinary arts. I believe business has a greater chance of succeeding if you love what you do or what you sell. Any business you start is always hard but if you do something you love, it is always worth it.
You can also do a feasibility research first if you really want to open a restaurant. If you really want to open a restaurant, follow your heart. It's good that as young as 19 you have big plans already. Good luck. This link may help you out.

This is very interesting and funny too:
In India: McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, TGIF
They selll the same stuff mostly but more Indianized: no beef and no pork. Huge vegetarian choices.
So McD's is lamb or chicken. That right: Big Mac is a Maharaja Burger made eith veg or with lamb.

I dont know what the original 11 herbs & spices are at KFC, but in India they add red chili powder & a little garam masala. It's also a sit down restaurant with tablecloths & waiters!
Pizza Hut also makes "Indianized" spiced up versions of pizza like "Tikka Paneer Makhani" pizza!

TGIFs in India makes Indian dishes in addition of a menu that will sell to an Indian market.

These restaurants are considered to be very very $$ by Indian standards. The avg person cant afford to eat there. They are considered high end in India.
Does anyone have good ideas for my 18th birthday?
I am a few months older than most of my friends so an over 18 venue is out of the question. Any nice restaurants? Mexican, Italian or American preferably. And anywhere like a roller disco, comedy club or a venue with dancing ?

Let me break it down for you. Tourists get alot of attention in Mexico, particularly Americans,cha-ching $$!! So alot of this stuff that they do, is to try to make you feel comfortable and enjoy yourself, hoping for a good tip at the end. Never in my life have I heard of "el cuchi cuchi" other than a Spanish artist by the name of Charo (which came out in VH1's Surreal Life, below is a link to her song). So in saying that, it means nothing, its like saying "whoomp there is". what does it really mean, slang term.
Last year we stopped at a bar in Cancun to have some drinks, so why was the guy telling me to "give me five!" and instead of doings a cheers, he wanted to do the "hip hip hooray"... come on now, they're trying too hard but what can you say... hope this helps...

I don't want to seem tacky, but it seems like a smooth way to transition into asking her about her culture.

Nooooo, I'm Mexican and if a guy took me to a Mexican restaurant I would thing the guy as very boring, not spontaneous. A guy has to be creative and surprise the woman ;) Like, what's your culture? Take her out to a restaurant from your country, because I get tired of having Mexican food everyday at home with my family..surprise her with something different :)
Do you ever eat with people of different regions of the world and notice a difference from what you'd buy?
Asian food at their home is different and better than you get at a restaurant. Mexican food at their home is the bomb compared to mexican restaurant food.
I'm sure this is true everywhere

Mexican Egg Rolls with Salsa
These appetizers contain ground beef, shredded potatoes and cheddar cheese. They're served with a blended salsa made of canned tomatoes.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 medium potato, shredded
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 tsp garlic powder, or to taste
1 tbsp tomato paste
1/4 tsp cumin
8 oz shredded cheddar cheese
12 egg roll wrappers
Oil for deep frying
Salsa:
1 14 oz. can diced tomatoes
1/2 cup onion, cut up
1 clove garlic, halved
3 jalapenos, seeded and cut up Salt to taste
Method
In saucepan, brown ground beef with potato and onion. Cook until beef is done. Drain fat. Stir in garlic powder, tomato paste and cumin. Remove from heat and stir in cheese. Divide into 12 portions and fill each egg roll wrapper with meat mixture. Roll like you would a regular egg roll, moistening edges to seal. Fry until golden brown; drain on paper towels. Salsa: Place all ingredients in blender or food processor and blend until combined but still chunky. Serve as a dip for egg rolls.
