Local New Age Shops

Need help finding a company or supplier?

Any ideas on what I should plan for to open an online new age shop?

I've been planning and putting together and shopping for a new age shop for several years. Getting it laid out in my head. I'm getting really close to actual start up. Just wondering if anyone thinks there's anything I've missed? So far my list of haves/planned/business plan includes: Service providers, vendors, products, advertising, office equipment/office/software, good content. Anything else?

This may nor be the response you were hoping for but the first thing that came to mind was, 'don't do it'. I have a friend with such a shop. It's wondrous as you enter it but the business isn't doing well, even though she is doing all the right things. Having said that, I wish you well and hope you get some good advice here.

Can I ask for donations to raise capital to start a New Age Store?

My dream is to open a New Age shop. But I need to raise funds in order to get started. Can donations be made to start this sort of project?

Question answered by Judy

If you call them donations, there's an assumption that they're tax deductible, and they aren't - you need to make that very clear.

What is there to do in West Hollywood during the daytime?

Such as chill wi-fi cafes, book stores, thrift shops, new age shops, interesting stores, museums, lesbian/gay friendly places etc?

Question answered by Muppet

Since West Hollywood is the heart of the Los Angeles gayborhood than every place will be gay friendly. I hope you will have a car because WeHo is quite spread out. The Abbey opens up at 8am and is open until 2am every day of the week. In the morning and afternoon it's a chill place for breakfast and lunch and as soon as the sun goes down it is a very popular bar. Out of the Closet is a good thrift store to go to. Bodhi Tree is THE new age shop/bookstore in the LA/OC area and it's in WeHo. A Different Light Bookstore is a gay/lesbian bookstore. Book Soup is a regular independent bookstore that has some interesting stuff. They also get quite a few authors doing book signings. Hamburger Mary's is a good place to eat. My favorite because of it's past rock-n-roll history is Barney's Beanery. All the 60's rockers used to go there. Alright food and a very large beer selection.

Can psychics and mediums make good money?

Do psychic mediums and tarot readers make good money? when they go to peoples houses and advertise in new age shops etc ? I have been reading tarot as a spirit medium/ tarot reader for years for friends and am thinking of doing it for extra cash because I can really do it. But could this become, eventually, a full time business. Is there anybody that has tried it ?

Question answered by Thomas E

Anyone who is good at convincing people that what they have to offer is of value to them can make money. The first step is believing that you CAN do it. And it seems to me that you can, because: 1.) You have been doing it for years, and 2.) People have been doing it for years. They're not talked about as much as the rich mega-preachers, who also succeed by convincing other people that they "need" what they (the mega-preachers) have, but they use the same techniques, so they can be just as successful. There will always be people who are willing to pay for something; whether it has value to most people or not, there will always be someone who thinks that it IS valuable. It is up to you to sell it, but it HAS been done before.

What size journal should i get for my wiccan book of shadows?

I am a wiccan and i want a nice blank journal for my book of shadows and i found a couple that i really like at my local new age shop. Should i get the 5x7 now or wait a week for the 7x10? They are both the same design but the bigger one costs 35 dollars more than the smaller one. Im just worried ill run out of space with the 5x7. Any advice will be appreciated and please no negativity on my decision to be a wiccan.

Katie M

Question answered by Hal Roach

You may very well eventually run out of space with a 7x10" too. It's not unusual for Wiccans to end up having more than one BOS for this reason. But it takes a long time to just fill up ONE book, so I wouldn't be too concerned with that right now. Just go with a blank book that you like. I myself used to use a 3-ring binder so that I could insert and swap around pages as needed. So...I say grab the 5x7".

What kind of shorts should a 20 year old girl wear?

I pretty much wear those long shorts that boys wear, during the summer. I like the length, and the elastic waistband because they're comfy; and I'm a tomboy, lol. I don't like how short the shorts are at stores where people my age shop (abercrombie, hollister, and AE). I found bermudas, but I think they look like they're made for people older then my age. I'm also very thin, and wear a size 0...so I wasn't able to find any in my size anyway. Are there any shorts that are about mid-thigh length, and still look good without showing too much? Can I have links too? Thanks!

Jessica

Question answered by Mal-TASTIC

Delias has a lot of 5" shorts. I feel like this is the length that you want. http://store.delias.com/product/morgan+5%22+manchester+short+308646.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType= There is one link. They are under the Bermudas section, but you can find some (like in the link above) that are 5". If you go in the midthigh section the longest they have is 3 1/2, and you might like that too. Here is one of those- http://store.delias.com/product/bailey+3+1-2%22+color+short+coral+celebrate+308566.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType= But anyways, the lengths of your shorts don't really have to do with age, but more of your size. And you could totally wear short shorts since you are small. You obviously don't have to. Once you get to the age of about 30 though, your shorts should get a little longer. Old Navy also has 3/12" and 5" options. Many other places do to, but those are just the first two I thought of. And both reasonably priced. Hope I helped(:

Is it ok for your 16 year old son/daughter to walk around around town by themselves?

Once I caught a 15/16 year old (or around that age) shopping at a store by himself at the local shopping center. I just wanted to know is it normal for teens these says to do that? Just wondering.

What is the entire meaning of the symbols on my performers talisman seal of mercury? Does it protect dancers ?

It is called the seal of eloquence or the seal of mercury. It is a necklace that I bought at a new age shop. It is supposed to protect performers.

Question answered by Lunamoth3

Yes, but like any business, you have to be good at what you do. I would suggest you do a search on "psychic jobs/ phone" a bunch of companies will come up. Apply see if you can do readings via the phone. If yes, then design a web- site, you can use pay pal to collect payment from clients at 1st, then if you really hit it big, the people like you...bigger site, employees etc. etc.

For what was pepper used for horses in the middle ages?

In history we are looking at a Middle Ages shopping list that pepper was used for horses? Any ideas?

M A

Question answered by Feisty

Well, they carried it. But most likely they used it as a spice to eat it. Horse meat was a natural dish in Europe in the Middle Ages (and still is in many places).
