Need help finding a company or supplier?

Where can I buy ether to run my model aeroplane diesel engine?

I have tried chemists and model shops, the latter say that they have to buy in excessive quantities and cannot stock it.

Question answered by champer

Nice try. The fuel is a mixture of methanol combined with castor and/or synthetic oil.

What percent of the sales was the shop's profit to the nearest whole percent?

Last month a model shop had $12,000 in sales and $9500 in expenses. What percent of the sales was the shop's profit to the nearest whole percent? Please help and if you have answer show the steps to get there.

Question answered by lost in the stars

profit = sales - expenses profit as a percent of sales = profit / sales = (sales - expenses) / sales sales = $12,000 expenses = $9,500 profit as a percent of sales = (sales - expenses) / sales = ($12,000 - $9,500) / $12,000 = $2,500 / $12,000 ≈ 0.2083 or 20.83% ≈ 21% (rounded to nearest whole percent)

Does All Revell Models requires you to paint them? OR do they come with decals you can stick?

I am planning to buy Revell Models in my local Models shop since I saw Revell models in the internet and they really looked good. Anyways I am new to this so can I ask IF do you have to paint them and require a glue? or do they come with decals. And since I am a beginner do they sell a beginners kit for the matter?

Question answered by 1 Proud Canadian

Just explain to them you are a beginner to modeling and want to start out building easy models and they will set you up with everything you need. There is nothing more satisfying to look at your completed model and think "I built that." Have fun and enjoy your new hobby. Some model kits such as snap-tite the parts snap together, meaning you put the two parts and gently squeeze them together. If you are just beginning to build models it might be a good idea to start with this type of model kit. That way you don't get discouraged if the part moves after you have glued it in place before the glue dries. There are books that explain model making for beginners. Also magazines like Fine Scale Modelers are a excellent source for modeling tips and instructions. Other model kits require glue to hold the parts together. They usually look allot better it you paint them. Just remember not to paint them where they glue to the other parts. You have to realize that they have experienced model makers work on the models they show on the Internet and in their catalogs.. Good Luck and have allot of patience, everyone makes mistakes when they first start to build models.

is there a RC model shop in Hawaii (RC cars, Heli, Plane, Futaba reseller)?

I am travelling to Hawaii tomorrow. I wish to purchase some RC cars and accessories for Radio Controlled HELI, PLANES and BOATS, which are currently NOT available in my country. Are there good RC model shops in Hawaii? Is there a Futaba and JR and Airtronics reseller or retailer? Thanks a lot. Claudio

Is there anywhere in Bedfordshire / Bucks that sells the Gundam Model Kits?

I remember Toys r Us used to sell the Gundam Wing models when the show was popular on Toonami, but they stopped selling them years ago. I was just thinking there must be a hobbyshop or model shop somewhere that has a few for sale? Its just so frustrating waiting weeks for them to come off ebay, last time i ordered some they didnt come for 5 weeks!

Question answered by Lord Darkclaw

They're a specialist item, only place you're going to find the exact one you want is either the internet or a major stockist in one of the big Cities. Incidentally, I spotted a few smaller Gundam kits half-price (was £25, now £12.50) in a small toy-shop in Taunton (in Somerset). http://www.watkintoys-online.co.uk/contents.htm

How do you make cheap but effective mud in dioramas?

Self explanatory, looking for some cheap and easy to make diorama mud, the diorama is in 1:72 scale and i am not over keen on the "realistic water liquid" in the bottles you find at modelling shops. If your wondering what it is about, it is about the siege of Stalingrad, I am modelling where the Russians are on the counter-attack doing a bayonet charge.

Plaster or filler with brown paint mixed in. Get one of those mixer pots of paint from a DIY store instead of using expensive modelling paint. While it's setting you can stick twigs etc in it to represent trees etc.

How many would welcome a first lady whom was caught shopping at local thrift stores?

i strongly feel i would admire a first lady whom was not caught in that trap with all the emphais focused on what a first lady has to wear as the world is in crisis.why not keep it simple! as many working americans do know how to shop and what to look for at the local thrift stores..models shop the thrift stores as well..

I would find that refreshing.

How many ppl bought the Mags to Build a Titanic or Lancaster bomber and have completed them.?

would it be cheaper to buy the kits from a model shop.Happy New Year to All.

Question answered by mike-from-spain

much cheaper, when to work out the cost of these part works, and you have to buy every one to complete the model, they usually work out at about £500, you could get a fantastic model alreadt built for that..

Where do hoodlums get their spray cans?

I see a lot of graffiti, but I never see spray cans being sold anywhere. Apart from model shops. Does the fuzzy old man who owns the shop sigh in despair when some chavs come in to buy their cans? He knows they won't be painting a spitfire with it, but instead write 'suck my b@lls' in an underpass in Slough.

Question answered by speedball182

My friends use to get their cans from homebase (the one in romford). they use to fill up a trolley load of cans, walk it to the garden section, fill a couple of rack sacks up and through it over the wall where they had some other friends waiting. never much of an artist myself so i never done it, but hell, what a way to get free paint.
