A master's degree in marketing and some experience running a small business would mean you should have plenty of experience under your belt. In this case, in terms of marketing opportunities at large and profitable companies, a person with your background should at the very least be a marketing manager. Marketing managers are typically roles that require a minimum of five years of industry experience and often require MBA's or other advanced degrees. Depending on the industry, a marketing manager of your experience level should expect anywhere between 90K - 140K per year.
Marketing as a field provides a very wide range of salaries. Entry level positions in marketing can pay anywhere between 30K-80K, and that range doesn't get any easier as you climb up. The reason is that for any given position in marketing, the rule is simple: if you're really good and you can prove that you are, you'll get offered the maximum. Most people don't, and that's why there's such a range.
Be prepared to fully and effectively market yourself upon graduating. Know how to articulate your unique value to the employer and communicate the attributes that set you apart from the other applicants. I'd say your small business background is a good start in terms of differentiating yourself.

How is marketing important to a psychologist?
I take a marketing class and we're supposed to do a powerpoint on our career and we're supposed to answer the question "How can marketing be incorporated in your career choice"? I really don't know how marketing relates to a psychologist so ... help please ?

Question answered by John
Psychology students look at what motivates people and seeks to explain certain behaviours. The overlap in marketing is that a consumer purchase is driven by certain motivators which rarely make such a purchase a completely linear process. So a psychologist can marketers understand these nuances either through sharing the fundamentals of help determine those relevant factors that affect consumer buying behaviour such as Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs or through customer market research. It's why you see a lot of psychologists ending up in the Customer Insight departments of large organizations.

Marketing helps consumers or buyers to be aware about the certain products offered by companies and make them choose what's the best product to buy. Education is essential in the society because it can help people understand the real situation around them.

What element of the marketing mix do you think is most critical when positioning products or services to your target market? Why?

Question answered by moneymantra
The mix is a bundle of variables which are offered to the customer. These include the product or service itself (its advantages); its availability (the place where and when it is available, delivered or distributed); its image (the way it is promoted) and, of course, the price which should be charged.
These are some of the ingredients which a marketing manager must mix together when optimising a limited amount of resources.
What is the best mix? A marketing manager has to juggle resources and decide on the best marketing mix. Should money be spent or forfeited on: reduced prices? Improved products? New delivery trucks? Or maybe invest all your money in a high risk TV advertising campaign?
Did you recognise the 4 Ps just there? In 1960 Jerome McCarthey presented the 4 Ps to the world. Since then marketing managers around the world have become familiar with them. Can you recall them?
In addition to the 4 Ps, there are other approaches to the mix. These are explored under 'Different Approaches' subtopic as shown in the title map.

What can you, as a marketing manager, do to help ensure a symbiotic relationship between the marketing dept and the PR dept?

Question answered by zaandammer
A company that takes it serious does NOT have separate dept's fot PR and marketing. Furthermore modern companies accept marketing as an integrated tool for ALL members of it's staff. Ultimately htere is no separate dept that "does" marketing (those people are just advertising or promotion empoyees).

Question answered by Aditya
Marketing as I understand is: creating awareness and demand for a product or services and using the supply chain management system, ensuring that it reaches the end user effectively. The Traditional marketing has a manufacturer, whole lot of middleman including traditional advertising and customers. Modern marketing has a manufacturer and customers without wwhich no business will function. But the middleman, advertisements and monitoring of demand and supply has undergone lots of changes. Big malls are directly supplying goods from manufacturers to consumers doing away with middlemen. MLMs and Direct Marketing have totally eliminated the middlemen and passing 60% of middlemen revenue to consumers who put some effort by way of word of mouth publicity. Modern communication tools are doing their bit of advertising and monitoring. End consumers get convenience.
How does CPA (cost per acquisition), affiliate marketing, etc., work? Any success, experience, ideas?
I have heard that things such as CPA marketing, email list marketing, affiliate, etc., are all ways some people have become millionaires at doing online.
My questions and concerns are simple, and any of the following are opt-outs for me:
1.Is CPA investment-free(i.e., do I need to invest money to have the possibility to make it)?
2.Is the time put in equivalent to the money put out(i.e., I won't work 8 hours a day for 5 days a week to earn $12.00 only).
3.Is money earned directly accessible, deposited, or in any way reachable to me(i.e., is the money made able to be withdrawn, is there minimum required limits to withdraw, etc.)?
Also, does anyone here have experience with affiliate marketing, CPA marketing, and the like?
I'd like some pointers here. I don't expect to be a millionaire overnight (though who wouldn't wish for that), but I don't want time, money, and efforts going to waste for little or no return. Thanks.
PS: I have very, VERY little income as of now, and barely getting anywhere off my businesses/self-employment. I can't work most "real" hourly jobs like most people do for reasons I won't give here, and problems preventing me from doing so(none illegal/criminal related).

Question answered by Tonia
Answers to your questions:
1. Is CPA investment-free?
- It is free to join CPA Networks (or should be free otherwise AVOID) but as a beginner I would start off with affiliate marketing as CPA marketing is a lot more complex. Most of the top CPA networks will only accept already successful affiliates anyway.
2. Is the time put in equivalent to the money put out?
- That depends on the quality of the work that you put in. For example, writing a quick product review, and highlighting just the good features, will be time wasted. But writing a comprehensive and honest product review, including all the pros AND cons, will be time well spent. People search for product reviews to find real info because they can find the 'features' and 'best bits' on the product sales page.
3. Is money earned directly accessible, deposited, or in any way reachable to me?
- There are many affiliate networks that offer instant commissions. Some of the best ones to consider are:
http://www.jvzoo.com
http://rapbank.com
https://www.digiresults.com
http://paydotcom.com
Also, there are many free affiliate marketing courses online for beginners. Here are a couple of highly recommended ones to get you started:
http://mattsmarketingblog.com - (owned by Matt Carter)
http://www.affilorama.com - (owned by Mark Ling)
Hope this helps...
What is the best affiliate marketing program for beginners?
