How did manufacturers & industrial workers use organization to advance their interests during the gilded age?
Manufacturers wanted profits and the laborers wanted high wages, but these conflict. My question is how they utilized ORGANIZATION to overcome this. Or to try to anyway. Thanks!

The manufacturers, mining interests, railroads, and industries used Pinkertons, goons, police, even troops and National Guard to break strikes. The workers used Unions, strikes, picket lines, and sabatage to counter.

Question answered by science teacher
Different marker manufacturers use different formulas of dyes.
You can do a simple experiment to observe this. Use filter paper cut into strips and water and alcohol as 2 solvents.
Place a dot of each pen on the end of 2 strips.about 1/2 inch up from the bottom.
Place 1/4 inch of water in one beaker and 1/4 inch of alcohol in the other beaker.
Set the strip upright in the beaker and let the solvent climb up the strip.
You will see the dye separate into the colors that make it up.

Question answered by cat lover
Unlikely, since markers do not have to be from the same batch of starting materials, and there will be a deviation allowed between batches. Will the human eye detect differences? Unlikely, if the manufacturer has decent quality control.
So it becomes a matter of how you define "same color dye". So it may be alizarin yellow as the main dye, but each batch may be slightly different in purity. And the same goes for each dye component in the process.
But if you pick up several red markers from different manufacturers, you should be able to detect color differences. Even if they use the same "red" dye.
How can someone be put in contact with manufacturers and/or factory representatives in China?
I've explored many many websites from Chinese manufacturers, but they are either difficult to navigate, hard to understand, or have no contact info. How does one go about contacting these manufacturers? SpecificaIly, I need porcelain and glass products manufacturers.

Question answered by Hank S
You need a U.S.-based sourcing company. We find the the right factory and the right product at the right price. We handle the quality inspection, production control, financing, logistics, customs clearance and financing. If you buy direct you incur added and unnecessary risk (you have to pay the Chinese supplier 100% in advance before they will release the shipment). By buying through us you pay a U.S. company a deposit and get 30 days credit on the balance. And, since sourcing and importing from China is our business, we can do it quickly and efficiently. We have inspectors and project managers in China to be your eyes and ears on the ground and make sure the supplier is giving you what you're paying them for. I lived in China for 10 years and speak fluent Mandarin. My company has relationships with porcelain and glass products manufacturers. We can get started right away. Working with us is transparent - you know the FOB China price and the supplier. We charge a management fee on the delivered cost of goods. Give me a call to discuss it further: 212-847-7175. Visit our web site: www.ChinatownSourcing.com. Thanks, Hank
I am looking for a way to find manufacturers for supplies for my small business?
I run a small business from my home selling soy candles. My current supplier has good prices but as the business is growing I would like to cut costs and buy directly from the manufacturers. My current supplier is not willing to part with this information as they want to keep my business for themselves. I am mostly looking for glass jars and tins for the candles we make. I already have contracts with the manufactures of our wax and colors. I would also like any information on manufacturers of candle scents. I have been to a few trade shows but it's still mostly middlemen suppliers and not the manufacturers.

Okay, here's a couple possibilities to start with. I would suggest contacting both of these companies, first to inquire if they can supply direct to you the type of tins you require. In the event one or either cannot, you should then inquire from each of them any possible references they might be able to make to other manufacturers of tin products that would be able to supply you.

How do I get wholesale direct from manufacturers?
Where do I look to find wholesale products direct from manufacturers, do I need a business license, and what is the typical minimum order? Would I be better off starting with wholesale distributors?
Question answered by
There are a few ways you can do to get direct manufacturer contacts.
1. The item you are getting, check for contacts around the packaging. ie. inside cases, any stickers or stuff.
2. Wholesale portals ie. www.alibaba.com. However, a subscription is needed for their services.
3. Network. Ask around. Ask friends/families or anyone you know who is in the industry od your target item. Ask the shop for distributor contact...then distributor for manufacturer contact...etc etc. Most won't share because they'd be inviting competition, but don't take my word for it.

License:
I believe in most cases you must have at least a registered business name and the license that corresponds to the type of business you are in. In your case, I believe it's a trading or import/export license.
Technically you can start doing business without such things... though for import/export/trading, it will be needed because there will be legal documents that have to be created that requires license and a business entity.
Check with your local government business agency and ask them about it.

There are pros and cons for going straight toward the manufacturer. It depends on what you want also.
If you are doing retail, it would make much more sense to deal with distributors because they would have taken the risk out of importing and usually handles its own logistics (ie. delivery). The downside being because the goods goes through one more channel, the price will be higher.
If you are intending to do distribution yourself, then going straight to the manufacturer is ideal. Getting from another distributor just makes the cost of the goods higher for your customers.
Then again, it depends on what goods you are dealing with. Manufacturers for simple, non-technical and small sized goods (ie. mugs, screen protectors, etc etc) do deal directly with retailers as well, because all they ahve to do is to pack and ship.
Whereas for more complex goods (ie. radios), if you are a retailer, getting from a distributor would be better because the distributor would usually handle the service and repair as well.
I hope I helped

If you want a tank top made through a manufacturer should I be googling apparel manufacturers or textile manufacturers? I want to get a women's tank top made through a manufacturer with my own measurements, colours and multiple sizes? How would I go about starting my search? Also what is OEM?

Easy question first: OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_equipment_manufacturer
Harder question: Start reading here: http://fashion-incubator.com/archive/how-to-search-for-clothing-manufacturers/ followed by http://fashion-incubator.com/archive/how-much-cash-do-you-need-to-start-a-small-clothing-line/ and then the rest of the newbies section, heading on to reading Fasanella's book: http://fashion-incubator.com/category/newbies/ http://fashion-incubator.com/products_services/
The person you're actually looking for (assuming you really do want to have a number of sizes of custom measurement tank tops made) is a patternmaker. They're the key to the entire game.
If you just want a variety of sizes of a custom color of tank top, buy "blanks" that will fit, and send them out for custom dyeing. An example of a blank merchant: http://www.blankshirts.com/index.asp (I can not vouch for this firm, nor tell you anything about them, as I've never used them. Just one of the first blank houses that came up on a quick search.)
What manufacturers should I choose for exotics in midnight club la?
I want to know what are the best manufacturers for the performance parts in midnight club la because I have heard that certain manufacturers make your car faster.

Question answered by No Name
That is a crock. One aftermarket manufacturer does not perform better than another in Midnight Club LA. Its only for show. The only things that affect the car is the performance level upgrades. The same goes for the older Midnight Club Dub Edition games.
