Where can I find a website or company that creates personal handcrafted leather or wooden books?
Im making a book (short story) for my soon to be fiance, and I want it to look "rustic" or "weathered", like its an older book. I have been unsuccessful in finding any help online. Are there any ideas out there, or can someone point me in the right direction?
Also, the paper is a big part too...I want it to look older, and 'used' I guess is the best way to put it...
Thanks!

Question answered by The Muse
When I was able, I used to do lots of leather tooling. You might hook up with someone at a local leather craft supply shop. They are usually fairly small with only one or two employees who may even give classes. They would have a pretty good idea if any of their customers could or would do something like this for you.
Myself, I would tool a design of your suggestion and put the appropriate names on. The leather can be burnished for the weathered look you want.
Good Luck (I've babbled at you enough)
Oh, I used to deal with Tandy Leathergoods before they closed up shop near me.

How can I be a good salesperson?
Hey I started a new job as a sales person in leathergoods small handbags etc but I have worked in cosmetics foralong time I'm not doing well as a sales person selling tips have you got any tips
Question answered by Overnight
Sell cheap stuff. People like to shop and buy things, and when times get tight they keep spending, BUT they just spend it on cheaper crap. You know instead of buying leather, they buy vinyl or pleather. Or they get a handbags from target/walmart instead of some trendy mall store.
So if you want to continiously make sales, you need to be in the low end of the market, not the high end. In other words, people's incomes can always go down, they don't always go up.
Can you give me a list of stores that sell jansport backpacks in Toronto?
Thanks :)

What is it most that makes that awkward friend of yours...well, awkward?
We all know one (or, in my case, may be one) of the group that is a little awkward when you are together. What trait is that you think most makes that person awkward to be around? If that one trait went away, do you think they would be a much better fit?
----
Disclaimer: As this is an important question to me, assume that I have friend that is awkward to be around and I am doing a survey of the group for helpful stories of success or failure to compare my own situation to.

Question answered by Just Nik
I have one very awkward friend who my friends say wants to be "just like me." If I got my hair cut, she wants to know where, who cut it, and how it was cut. Next thing I know she's got a similar cut... only thing is her hair texture is different so it doesn't fall the same. New makeup? Clothes? Shoes/heels? Leathergoods? Jewelry? I'd like for her to find her own style. She tries to find out where I bought things or really wants to shop with me. At first I thought this a compliment but after awhile it was quite irritating. When we used to all go out together I often found her staring.... (friends noticed too), as if trying to see details or find any clues. Made me feel self-conscious to have someone check me out so intently. Obviously we don't hang together much anymore though I'm still friends with her.
Anyone Ever been to Agadir in Morocco?
hi
booked a holiday to agadir, have read lots of differing opinions on it , whats it really like and whats the shopping like is it all just souvenirs or fake bags and stuff like that
is there a good market?
Alison
Question answered by sadingle
I was there in March.. the big souk in Agadir is a great place to buy gold and silver (*IF* you can spot fakes) There are alot of fake bag stalls, but there is also beautiful quality leathergoods to be had at amazing prices.. The beaches are beautiful, the mountains are amazing.. it's a little windy, but nothing so much as to spoil the beauty of it all. Check out the little zoo they have, the animals are very friendly- the wallabees came right up to me to have their photo taken. Enjoy Agadir. It's a lovely city, and it's a lovely drive to get to it from the north. :)
p.s. Stay away from Moroccan nail salons, if you're used to having your nails done by Asians.. lol.. Good advice for any woman vacationing in Morocco..
Are shoe repair shops all the same?
...and the materials used (especially for heels and soles).
Since posing the question I chanced upon James in Canary Wharf who offer PVC heels, which appear to have more give than the standard, harder heels, which were among the things concerning me elsewhere. But the 'insider Answer' perhaps sheds some light on this.

Question answered by matt
...Hi there.....I have been working in the shoe repair field for over thirty years and I can assure you that both of the previous answers are correct to some extent ....one can be the best shoe repair craftsman but without the proper materials and equipment superior craftsmanship cannot be realized ...also a less than talented shoe repaiman with all of the latest materials and equipment cannot produce the highest quality shoe repair work ... I speak from many years of experience.. a high quality full service shoe repair shop will repair shoes.. boots.. sandals handbags.. briefcases..etc...stretch footwear.. replace hardware on leather goods.. shoes and boots ...do alterations on boots/shoes..replace zippers.... refinish/dye footwear & leathergoods and fill orthopedic prescriptions ...... So.. for an answer to your question ...no not all shoe repair shops are the same ...and most shops .. at least the ones I have worked in do not carry the same materials because it depends on the shop owners level of expertise and customer demographics..available business capital and his willingness to accomodate the cutomer's needs in a considerate and timely fashion.......

What is prada? I hear it all the time, but not sure what it is.?
Is it a brand name, a store, a fashion, a shoe, or what?
Keto
Question answered by Charlotte
Prada, S.p.A. is an Italian fashion label specializing in luxury goods for men and women (ready-to-wear, leather accessories, shoes, and luggage). Prada is considered one of the most influential clothing designers in the fashion industry. The label is synonymous with opulence and quality, and is widely regarded as a status symbol.[1] Like numerous other luxury brands, Prada battles against counterfeiting and ensures authenticity only from its official boutiques (found globally) and online store.
First opened as a leathergoods shop in Milan in 1913, the Prada label was taken in by designer Miuccia Prada in 1999 and transformed into the luxury goods, fashion house recognized today.
Competition for Prada includes, but is not limited to, the following luxury high-fashion houses: Christian Dior, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio
Who designs for prada now?
I know it was miucci but i want to know whether there are some new ones today.

Question answered by carlo_vasquez2001
Miuccia Prada , Fashion Designer
Miuccia Prada was born in 1949. After university, she entered the
family business 1978 and soon revolutionized the appearence of its
products. Her interest in unusual fabrics led to the distinctive
trademark of Prada products: the surprising combination of materials.
There are usually two discoveries to be made when dealing with Prada
products: First, the surprise to see the use of a specific material in an
unusual context and in consequence, the astonishment how good it
fits the purpose. In 1989, she introduced women's wear with instant
success, men's wear followed equally sucessful in 1995.
Prada is said to be the most prominent example of a new form of
inward-directed luxury. While in the eighties luxury was explicitly
displayed, today an understated luxury is sought, only recognizable
by insiders. Thus, Prada clothes avoid very loud clouring and easily
appealing appearences. They are described as cool, comfortable,
pure, graceful, and minimalistic.
Miuccia Prada, who is entirely in charge of the companies creative
decisions, says she bases her decisions mostly on intuition. She is
reported to be overly fussy about each detail of her design. It can
happen that each product has to be changed over and over in order to
come closest to Miucci Prada's initial idea. Her husband Patrizio
Bertelli is the buisness-man behind Miuccia Prada. He is responsible
for the commercial side of the products and the retail strategy.

Economic Data
Performance
In 1994, total sales of Prada products were reported to be 270 billion
Lira ($167 million). In 1996 total sales were 456 billion Lira ($296
million). This figure is expected to rise by 50% to 732 billion Lira in
1997 ($475 million). Europe accounts for 55% of total sales. The
biggest export market is Japan accounting for 17% of total sales;
other Asian markets achieved 12%. The U.S. has contributed 16% to
total sales. The sharpest rise in sales for 1997 is expected in the
Asian markets, with a decreasing European share. Most of the
revenue is schived with the Prada Donna line (78%), followed by the
Prada Uomo line (15%). Miu Miu and Granello are expected to
contribute significantly more in the future. In 1996, Prada had sales
worth of 1150 billion Lira in retailing ($746 million). This figure is
believed to rise by 60% in 1997.
The biggest share of sales is still achieved with leathergoods and
shoes, but apparel sales are expected to grow.
Distribution
Prada has 250 fully owned shops around the world. Prada wants to
keep tight control on the retail activities, therefore it avoids franchise
agreements and duty-free shops.
Production/ Licenses
In addition to tight control over retailing, Prada seeks also to control
the production of its products firmly. Production and distribution of
Prada products is in the hands of the company "I Pelletrieri d'Italia", in
Montevarchi, Italy which is run by Patrizio Bertelli, Miuccia Prada's
husband. Licenses were avoided, until Prada decided in 1996 to enter
the cosmetics market (which will be in stores by end of 1998).
Underwear has recently been added to the Prada product range.
Curiously, the Prada underwear will bear no label at all, not even the
well-known Prada triangle. A new skiing clothes line will be added to
the main collection in late 1997. and homewear in 1998.
Prada operates about 250 stores in 65 countries. Recent acquisitions
brought the family-owned company UK shoemaker Church & Co.,
Genny and Jil Sander, among others, but the spree put Prada deep
into debt. The company delayed a fourth attempt to go public in
November 2004 and considered selling its Sander and Helmut Lang
brands.

wear can i get leather trousers in glasgow?
yrag
Question answered by Síona
Here is a website showing you wear to buy leather stuff in Glasgow:
http://www.glasgowonline.co.uk/local/Shopping/Leathergoods_Shops/
You should try Topshop too, they have some, but to be perfectly honest, leather trousers for men or women are a pretty hard look to pull off. Yes, Cheryl Cole (Or should that be Tweedy!?) manages to work them, but she's Cheryl for God's sake!
