Need help finding a company or supplier?

Can anybody recommend a good introduction agency in London for professional single people aged over 45?

I am single, would like to meet a mature professional man, a bit wary to try internet dating and am looking for a reputable introduction agency in London. Can anybody recommend one to me please.

Jasmine

Question answered by John

There isn't much to lose by trying internet dating. One site DatingforBabyBoomers.com is free to join and full membership is pretty cheap. It has millions of profiles of people 50 and over. If internet dating doesn't work you can always still seek a formal matchmaking service.

I would make up some chic fliers (put them in fancy envelopes too) and hand them out at nice bars and pubs. drop some off at businesses with elegible people. I think that would be a clever way to advertize.. even host a swanky cocktail party and send out fancy invitations to the eligble people you think would be interested. good luck

What is the most productive method of approaching universities?

What is the most productive method of approaching universities? We are newly established agency looking for universities and colleges that are interested in having more of international students. I sent out around 30 emails to different UK universities and colleges with an introduction about our agency but to this date didn’t get any positive respond. I did think that beside sending emails I can also post those letter as emails are sometimes are just ignored by people. But now I am not sure that even that will do anything.

What should you say in an email to an acting agency?

I want to email the CESD agencies agent Jill Reiling, what should i say in the email, im not quite sure. As i have never done this before, so help please!

Brittney O'Grady

Question answered by Kittysue

You never email an agent - it's completely unprofessional and shows a disregard for their time You MUST mail a cover letter with a short introduction of who you are along with your professional headshot, acting resume and ideally a demo reel with 2-3 minutes of clips of your best performances to date. If you do not have a professional headshot or strong resume, CESD is just going to throw out anything you send in. They are one of the top agencies in the country - they don't represent anyone but people with years of experience and training

How do Recruitment Agencies make their fee ?

When an Agency finds you a job, what is their fee based on? Also, is it in their favour to get you the lowest possible salary or not?

Question answered by SAP

Well, If they place you for a permanent role then, fixed percentage of your contracted annual salary will be charged as introduction fee aka commission. So, to your second question, its always in their favour to get you higher salary. If they place you for a temporary role then, two options, if you are getting paid by employer then, financial arrangement will be same as permanent. If you are getting paid by agency then they may be paying you for instance £10/hour however actually they will be charging £15/hour to your employer. (in this case they will try to pay you as little as they can and try to charge as higher as they can to ur employer) Hope this helps

Agencies that find work for your cleaning business?

I own a cleaning company. and I don't know know how to find work for my company. i have heard of agencies acting like a middle man or something and they find work for you. like they find a company that has an office that needs to be cleaned and they do an estimate for you and get you a contract or something with the company that needs their office cleaned.and after you get work for your company, you give the company that found work for you a certain percentage.. now is that possible? how does that work how does that work?

cleaner

Question answered by Bert R

I've never heard of a company that does that unless you are associated with a franchise-and you do not want to do that! They are expensive and control what you can and cannot do. Better to sit down and make a list if why your company is superior to other companies. Use that list to write an introduction letter and a flier. Send the letter to the decision makers of businesses with a follow up call to get an appointment. Better yet, personally call on offices and businesses with the flier or letter to make the appointment. A lot of businesses are unhappy with their cleaners but do not know where to look for another one or have the time to look. Also, put a vinyl wrap on your vehicle. That way every where you drive or park is a mobile billboard. More tips and resources are on my Squidoo lens-the link is in my Profile. Good Luck!

Is it preferrable to ask assistance from agency to finde me an IT Job in Canada or look for myself?

I am a new comer in Canada and I heard a lot from previous immigrants that it is hard to land a job there related to your field of expertise. You can land a job as a factory worker, etc. Is this true? Does it help to ask for assistance from job agencies so they can find me a job related to my IT experience. Pls help.

Question answered by SteveN

Finding a job (or at least a good one) is one of the most difficult things you can do in life. You must get the word out about yourself. That is done using resume's and introduction letters, answering ads, or using a job agency. The placement agencies are used by many companies in today's society so they do not have to dedicate all that time searching for qualified people themselves. The placement agency will have a list of people with certain skills that they keep on file. They also have companies that come to them and advise them of any new job openings. The agency's job is to best match the potential employee with the employer's position. Whether you choose to use a placement agency or try looking for a job on your own depends on the type of job you are looking for. Manual labor, farmwork, factory work, taxi driver, and restaurant staff (dishwasher, waiter, etc) probably do not require a placement agency. They show up, and if the owner feels they are qualified for the job, they will be hired. On the other hand, if you are looking for a job in construction, engineering, computers or business administration, a placement agency may be a big help. Since you are looking for IT jobs and (no offense intended) your English language written skills are good, but not excellent (based on how you phrased the Y!Question), I would recommend a placement agency may be able to help you get your foot in the door. You can look at www.monster.ca and www.jobboom.com for some sample jobs available and apply. Make sure any documents that you send them (CV, resume, cover letter) is as precise as possible and that you ran spellcheck on it twice. As for Canadian placement agencies, I have a friend that worked with Passerelle in Quebec to find two jobs in the IT industry. If you speak French and are looking for jobs in the Montreal area, you may want to try them out.

my friend is thinking of starting up her own business and asked me to join her.?

we have worked together so we are really colleagues not friends out of work. she asked me to join her to set up an introduction agency. not an online one, but one where we would meet our clients face2face. We have made up our own business plan, like what we'd offer membership plans. but we are unsure of the marketing and how to drum up the first two important clients! who can we turn to for some advice.?free is best at the moment. I am not worried about our friendship as I said we have worked together for over 5years now and we do work very well together. I just need advice on how to move on from our drafted business plan really. thanks ok most of you are focusing on the partnership? I still need to employ staff right, so I am going to have to work with other people? so what you are saying is that I can do this on my own? really? mmh.I understand that alot of people would fall out over money issues, but I see it as half the worry of the business, having someone else to help you work things out?

Question answered by veilofmistiness

Okay, The simple part first..........The legalities......... Partnership agreement. I suggest you draw up a partnership agreement just in case things turn sour and to avoid any grey areas ie. one person may stump up the cash to start the business whilst the other partner is doing all the work. Get it agreed from the START as it can cause huge problems later down the line if there is no agreement in place. Ask any solicitor. Tax office. Register yourself as a partnership, Limited company or Limited liability partnership with the tax office. You have three months to do this from when you start trading. If you do not do this you will face penalties of £100 plus. See an accountant and get it done properly. Some will offer you free advice during the first few meetings. And now the tricky part........... Financing. Do you need money for the project to start it up. I can see you have prepared a business plan and this is always the first thing a potential new business should prepare prior to going into business. this is the first thing a bank and any prime lender will ask for. Is it feasible and does it contain all of the necessary information, not just the figures. Marketing. Seeming as you do not intend to do this online you should start off concentrating on the local area and expanding from there. Put adverts in shop windows, hairdressers, petrol stations and anywhere else you think the ideal client would see them like pubs and nightclubs and so on. Bus stops. As I said concentrate locally before moving on and start with a small level of growth. Don't try and run before you can walk as one of the main reasons new businesses fail is that they run out of money and have tried growing too quickly. Corporate. Have you considered coroporate clients as this is where the money really is. Hit the gyms and the beauty and nail parlours with adverts. My only true advice would be to start the business as a very small operation and work, work, work, work and do as much as you can yourself until you feel happy at the extra costs of taking staff on and growing things. Do not do this until you have money in the bank and have factored in for your debts such as tax and costs. And lastly............ I wish you the very best of luck
