Question answered by
Oh no, the internet service is required to use other features like mobile e-mail, app world, and Blackberry messenger as well as social networking apps such as facebook and twitter, so if you aren't planning to use it then you will NOT make the best of a blackberry,If you do want to use the internet then here a few steps:
PAYG- BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS Data plan) which costs £5/$10 a month with no permanent contract, there are also top-up add ons with internet, free texts and calls.
Pay Monthly- A data plan with internet data allowance and e-mail included, there is a minimum term contract within 18-24 months after you first subscribe to a plan from most network providers which could be very hassling if you are not satisfied.
Network charges apply if you browse the internet outwith a pay monthly plan or a BIS plan.
My recommendation would be to buy a phone that is cheaper unlike smart phones as many people in my generation (teenagers/young adults) use it for consistent socialising and networking as well as entertainment.

Clearwire is your best option, DSL without phone service are going to run $50.00 or so after all the tax.
AT&T, Verizon and Sprint have wireless ISP but they are not cheap all are 50.00 and have usage limits.
If you live in a wireless service area.IE your cell works good
then check Clear Wire out, they have some good deals,

Question answered by Tom
It depends on the hardware in your computer. If you have an ethernet port, then you can connect to the internet via a wired connection, if you have a wireless card then you can access wireless internet. if you have an older 56k modem then you can connect to dial up (most likely you wont ever use this)
check your computer specs and see what your laptop supports. Most likely you have a wireless and ethernet (wired) connection.
How does free internet service work?
I have paid internet service but I may have to let it get disconnected for a few days and I was wondering if I download one of the free internets, (NetZero, Juno) How does it work? Also, do I have to download it before my paid internet is disconnected? I read that I could get 10 free hours per month but I will only be out a few days. Thanks.

Question answered by roderick_young
The free internet service is generally dial-up service. What that means is you need a landline phone, and a modem. 10 years ago, it was common for computers or laptops to come with modems, but if your computer is new, you may not have a dial-up ("56k") modem. Also, bear in mind that dialup is many times slower than DSL or cable, although it's tolerable if all you want to do is email and not video.
The free services work something like this: when you sign up, you're required to give a credit card number. If you ever go over the allotted 10 hours per month, you're automatically enrolled in their paid plan. Ideally, you would hope that they just cut you off at 10 hours, but it doesn't work that way. You continue without warnings, and they take it out of your credit card.
If you are disconnecting for financial reasons, check with one of your neighbors. They might let you onto their wi-fi, if you're on good terms with them.
