December and January tend to be the busiest.
In December, the holidays stress people out. And in January, people want to make changes (resolutions).
If you focus on weight related issues, you'll probably also have a spike right before beach season.
Can you recommend a Hypnotherapist in Wellington, NZ to help me stop nail biting?
I've found details for several hypnotherapists in the Wellington area and all seem to have had experience with nail biters. The problem is, which one is the best and most effective hypnotherapist? If you have any experience of hypnotherapy to stop nail biting or hypnotherapists in Wellington, I would really appreciate your feedback.
Many thanks

The sadness is that you might be one of those people who bite their nails simply because as a child, you never learned to clip your nails on a regular basis. I know that as soon as I recognized that my nails grow way quick, and that I would bite them to save myself from broken nails and damaged everything else, my attitude changed. I started managing them like everybody else learned to when a child.
Please consider carrying a small combination file and emery board with you. Spend a moment every once in a while during the day to check them and fix anything rough. That way, when you scratch an itch or put the nail in your mouth, there will be no rough or sharp features for your brain to work on. When there is a rough feature, you pull out the file and fix it instead of biting it. Realize you are biting a nail? Immediately get your file out and make the best you can of the carnage. Your brain will be pissed-off & frustrated, but such is life.
At night, sometime before you go to bed, dress them once more. It will make you feel better about yourself.
The change will be immediate. Within two weeks you will see results. If you take pride in your accomplishment, it will eventually restrict the behavior.
How do I start working as a hypnotherapist from home (UK)?
I would like to start working part time as a hypnotherapist from home (I have a diploma in hypnotherapy). I already work full time for another company and I am planning to do both jobs for a few months before I work as a Hypnotherapist full-time.
Can anyone please advise me of my legal responsibilities in order to start working from home (e.g. do I need to register a company name and where, what about tax etc)

Hello Vanessa
Being a Hypnotherapist within the UK requires no legal papers of any kind, you do not need a Diploma, nor insurance. Unless you want to. I would recommend insurance!
The tax side of things, if you decide to go legit, phone the Tax Office & if you wish open a business account with your bank.
Once your established & you know that you wish to continue, you may have to change your council tax for business rates.

Can I be both a psychologist and a hypnotherapist at the same time?
When I get older, (I'm ending my freshman year right now) I want to become a psychologist. But I also want to become a hypnotherapist.
Can I actually have like a psychologist/hypnotherapist office when I grow up?

There are various strands in psychology. You can be a clinical psychologist, and if your university offers hypnosis classes then you should take one. As far as i know a hypnotherapist IS a clinical psychologist who practices hypnosis on his patients. One of my professors knows how to practice hypnosis and his a regular clinical psychologist with an MS in Clinical Psychology. (masters of science)
I'm 19 years old, and thinking of becoming a hypnotherapist, I've done research. Is this a good career choice?
I've done research, I have an orientation set up. I am planning to get my psychology degree once I have gotten my hypnotherapy certificate. I just want opinions from individuals who know or are hypnotherapists. Thank You.

It totally depends on whether or not you are in an area that uses alternative health methods and whether or not you can get regular clientele. It's a cool course though and comes in handy for years after you learn the techniques. Just don't count on it as your sole income.

Bachelor's degree in public relations and psychology or master's degree in conflict resolution. This is enough to become member of hypnotherapist after small training in this branch.

Hypnotherapy has not yet been regulated in the UK which means in principle, anyone can set up in practice without having had any qualifications. To safeguard the public, there are hypnotherapy organisations that require all members to have had a certain level of training at an approved training school; to have ongoing training and gain CPD points; be insured; and follow a strict code of conduct. These organisations include the General Hypnotherapy Register (http://www.general-hypnotherapy-register.com ), The Hypnotherapy Society (http://www.hypnotherapysociety.com ) and The Hypnotherapy Association (http://www.thehypnotherapyassociation.co.uk ).
In more recent years, there has been a move towards self regulation and discussions are still taking place (http://www.hypnotherapyregulation.co.uk ). There is some support and some criticism of how this regulation will be overseen with many therapists being against the proposed idea of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council being involved - the majority of hypnotherapists do not see themselves as "complementary therapists" and would rather see discrete regulation for hypnotherapy.
So there is some way to go in terms of regulation, but if you are wishing to join this profession then I would recommend you visit the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (http://www.ghsc.co.uk ) for approved training schools. One thing to note is that there are various ways in which hypnosis can be used so your training will depend on what method you would like to use - would you be interested in suggestion-based hypnosis or would you prefer to know how to find and resolve the root cause of a problem?
Best of luck. It really is an inspiring and enjoyable career.
Would you go to a hypnotherapist to reduce test anxiety?
Someone recently told me they went to a hypnotherapist to reduce test anxiety. That sounds interesting. Has anyone done this? Also, would you consider doing this?
Thanks all!

I've had anxiety since childhood and tried many things from meds to hypnosis. The hypnosis was good and teaches you how to relax along with how to deal with internal thoughts that cause anxiety. It was expensive though I paid around $900 for 8 weeks going once a week for an hour long session.
Eat healthy foods stay away from caffeine take some B vitamins and exercise this will do wonders for you.

Is it common to go to a hypnotherapist to overcome a garlic eating habit?
On the Family Feud DVD game, it asked for habits you would go to a hypnotherapist to overcome. "Eating Garlic" was one of the top ones and none of us had ever even heard of that before. Is it actually a common thing?
