How bad are energy drinks for your health?
I love AMP energy drinks, and I drink the sugar-free ones, and I drink about 4-5 a week. How bad is this for my health, what long-term affects could it have?
My friend loves the little 5-hour energy drinks. She drinks 2 every day. How bad is this for her health, what long term affects could it have?

Question answered by
An energy drink is a drink and it has benefits. I will educate you about how each chemical isn’t as “poisonous” it is painted up to be, but a fancy name for some things that are good for you.
Monster Ingredients
Carbonated Water- what it says it is, water with a little carbon dioxide gas in it to make it bubble
Sucrose- complex sugar, table sugar, you eat it all the time in many foods
Glucose- simple sugar, just not as complex as sucrose (it is a carbohydrate something you need to live)
Citric Acid- organic acid used in the metabolism of all living things
Natural Flavors- chemicals taken from plants to make you to have the impression of a certain flavor, used in almost all foods you eat
Taurine- absorbed through the blood barrier isn’t harmful in fact supplementation helps protect body from lead poisoning, prevents epileptic seizures, prevents obesity, helps prevent coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis
Sodium Citrate- an acidic salt that helps your blood platelets from sticking together, preventing strokes
Color Added- used in almost every food product sold, helps people associate colors to certain foods.
Panax Ginseng Root Extract- Is a muscle relaxant not tenser, helps treat type 2 diabetes, sexual dysfunction in men, helps increase resistance to stress on the body, anti inflammatory effects on humans,
L-Carnitine- required for the transport of lipids (fat cells) to the mitochondria for metabolic energy
Caffeine- comes from the leaves of plants even in chocolate, restores alertness for a limited time, helps treat apnea and correct irregular heartbeats, reduces the risk of liver injury for liver disease patients, consumed since the Stone Age
Ascorbic Acid- sugar acid with antioxidant properties, known more commonly as vitamin C, deficiency results in scurvy
Sorbic Acid- organic compound, prevents from mold, yeast, and fungi growing in foods so you don’t have to immediately consume everything you buy
Benzoic Acid- also helps prevent mold, yeast, and bacteria growth; apples even contain it, treats fungal skin diseases such as ringworm and athlete’s foot, also used as a decongestant
Niacinamide- known more commonly as vitamin B3, although serving the same function it doesn’t have the same toxic effects as niacin due to your metabolic conversion, it has anti-inflammatory effects, it has been proven to restore cognition in Alzheimer's disease patients, and it prevents immunosuppression due to UVA and UVB radiation
Sodium Chloride-more commonly known as table salt, needed by your body to absorb water for life processes
Glucuronolactone- broken down form of glucose, important component for the structure of almost all connective tissues in living organisms
Inositol- a different form of the carbohydrate molecule, necessary in insulin signal transduction, nerve guidance, intracellular calcium concentration control, cell membrane potential maintenance, serotonin activity modulation, breakdown of fats, reducing blood cholesterol, and gene expression
Guarana Seed Extract- contains caffeine just like coffee beans, has the same benefits as caffeine
Pyridoxine Hydrochloride- more commonly known as vitamin B6, is required in the production of serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine, helps in the balancing of sodium and potassium, red blood cell production, maintains cardiovascular health, lack of this chemical is linked to the cause of anemia, nerve damage, seizures, skin problems, and sores in the mouth
Sucralose- zero-calorie artificial sweetener so those who don’t like sucrose or glucose can still have sweet without the extra calories to make them fat
Riboflavin- more commonly known as vitamin B2, needed for maintenance in human and animal health, it has a key role in energy metabolism and metabolism of fats, ketone bodies, carbohydrates, and proteins, since the human body is constantly excreting it this means many humans can easily become deficient of this needed vitamin, deficiency leads to stunts of cell growth which includes the fatty degeneration of the liver and kidney
Maltodextrin- polysaccharide that is absorbed as glucose and is just as harmless as glucose
Cyanocobalamin-more commonly known as vitamin B12, it is used widely for people deficient due to gastric problems resulting in problems absorbing enough from normal meals throughout the normal day
As you can see all these chemicals are things you need. They are chemically stable and have no solid proven dangerous chemical reactions have ever been observed between each other or any other chemicals you absorb throughout the day.In moderation as everything should be used this is another drink you can enjoy every once in a while.
Other energy drink’s contents vary especially 5 hour energy, but with every chemical there can be adverse effect if you consume too much.
Long term effects vary from person to person because no one person metabolizes a chemical like another person.
How long does it take amphetamines to leave your system?
I have to take a drug test in a little less than a month. How long does it typically take amphetamines to leave your system? Also, other than exercise, what are the best ways to get marijuana and amphetamines out of your system? I'm aware of exercise and plan to do that as well. I don't really have enough money for a cleanser but when I do I'm going to get that too. What else can I do to get these things out of my system?

Question answered by Trichrome
k first of the cleanser wont work, they test for the chems and it only masks. the amp will be out in 5 days so dont worry

Is it possible to go on a juice like cleanse without using laxatives?
I want to go on a cleanse because I've felt slightly under the weather for the past few weeks, but I don't want to have to completely flush my system out by using laxatives, or being on the toilet every hour...Anybody have any ideas? Also, I can't handle taking vinegar shots, or anything of that sort. The lemon, cayenne pepper, maple syrup one sounds doable to be, but if anybody knows anything like that then please make your suggestion!

There are endless amounts of stuff out there that can help you cleanse your body and stop/prevent you from this ill feeling you have had for some time. I will give you a couple ideas and allow you to make the best decision for yourself based on your circumstances.
Believe it or not, there's a microbial zoo living inside you, literally trillions of microscopic organisms―more than 10,000 different kinds of them―all working with each other and you! Over 80% of your immune system derives from inside your gut so when your not "regular", your immune system is suffering. Thus, you feelings sick all the time.
Maintaining optimal gut flora by eating raw food grown in healthy, organic soil and 'reseeding' your gut with fermented foods and probiotics may be one of the most important steps you can take to improve your health. If you aren't eating fermented foods, you most likely need to supplement with a probiotic on a regular basis, especially if you're eating a lot of processed foods. Poor diet in general, especially one high in fructose and sugar extols a heavy price, as it tends to wipe out the beneficial bacteria in your gut, giving non-beneficial bacteria and other pathogens free rein to proliferate unchecked.
Beyond fermented foods (sauerkraut is my favorite), you can purchase products to help your immune system. "https://erikwelker.my90forlife.com/shop/index.html?view=Products&Category=Products&default=vitamins_amp;_minerals" This is a system I sell as well as use myself. Its amazing. Everything you need to help boost your bodies natural defenses. All your vitamins and minerals that you need and are probably deficient in will work together to bring you back to optimal health.
If that does not interest you, here are a few "remedies" you can try. You mentioned lemon, but ill expand on that.....
Lemons or limes juiced mixed with spring water (to dilute). To that mixture, using a garlic press, press 2 cloves of garlic, and grate some raw ginger, using a veggie grater and then put the shreds into the garlic press and squeeze out the juice. Then add one tablespoon of olive oil (preferably organic virgin) to the mixture and shake to mix.............Then drink.
That drink is best taken in the morning after stretching and breathing exercises. Try not to eat anything for one hour following the mixture.
Alternatively you can try other detox support systems. Those include Hydrotherapy, Skin Brushing, Stretching and relaxation exercise (Yoga or Meditation), Aromatherapy, or just plain Aerobic Exercises. Help with these can be found at website below.
If you require further help, do not hesitate to ask. Take care!

Fever and body aches.
Chikungunya is a virus spread by mosquitoes. It is not normally a serious health issue as it only lasts for 3-7 days. The best prevention is to keep the immune system healthy and taking proper precautions to avoid infection. There are several things one can do to prevent bites from mosquitoes and there are ways to relieve body aches and deydration that might come if infected.
The symptoms of chikungunya include fever which can reach 39°C, (102.2 °F) a petechial or maculopapular rash usually involving the limbs and trunk, and arthralgia or arthritis affecting multiple joints which can be debilitating. There can also be headache, conjunctival injection and slight photophobia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/chikungunya
The mosquito species that transmits the Chikungunya virus is the Aedes albopictus, commonly known as the Asian tiger mosquito or forest mosquito. There being no vaccine or preventive drug for chikungunya at present, the best way to avoid the infection is to control the mosquito population in the region and prevent mosquito bites.
http://curezone.com/blogs/m.asp?f=380&i=8
Last year, several members of the Iowa State University Department of Entomology presented the results of a study on common catnip. Among their conclusions was the fact that an essential oil in catnip is 10 times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than potent chemicals such as DEET.
http://curezone.com/blogs/m.asp?f=634&i=13.
There are many ways to cure and prevent chikungunya. It takes being conscious of what is causing the problem, eliminating risks, and watching one's diet and hygiene;
*Eat a healthy diet with mostly raw vegetables and most fruits
*Avoid bannanas, chocolates, yogurt as they attract mosquitoes
*Wear long pants and socks with closed shoes during mosquito season
* Vitamin B Complex will help prevent bites
* Avoid dairy as dairy plugs up the elimination system
* Bathe with unscented soap and shampoo to avoid attracting mosquitoes
* Avoid wheat products if the virus infection is coming on
*Use catnip, rosemary, and neem oil to spray on exposed areas of skin (I would add lavender for aroma improvement)
*Make a bath with the above essential oils
*Avoid going out of doors during the greatest risk times at dusk and dawn, or at least cover the legs, arms, and feet during the early moring and evening
*Avoid sugary drinks and alcohol
*Eliminate standing water in your area(put a few drops of neem oil or catnip oil in pools of water to prevent eggs from hatching)
*Eliminating table salt and adding sea salt to salt foods will mineralize the body and improve toxin elimination threrefore improvie the immune response
*Drinking 6-8 glasses of clean water every day will clear the elimination system and help prevent or eliminate the virus more efficiently if infected
* I would also add one drop of wild oregano oil to a shot glass of carrot juice or some other strong juice if I was fully infected,
*Amp up on Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and try Golden Seal if infected
*Drink green tea for relief
*I would also drink unsweetened fruit juice or vegetable juice with
a teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar with a dash of cayenne, turmeric, and cinamon to provide good flora and PH balance to speed up recovery.
*MSM or Glucosamine are supplements that could help with body aches.
*If you have access to the herb Boneset herb also called comfrey, knitbone, Snake Root, and blackwort, it is a very good anti-inflamatory and excellent for body aches
http://curezone.com/blogs/f.asp?f=687&t=...
*One study found that tannic acid from nutgall apparantly binds to Chikungunya and inhibits the virus. Sources of Tannic Acid: Nutgall, Tea, Nettle, Wood, Berries, Chinese galls. Oak wood is very rich in tannic acid. Oak leaves were also mentioned. Take an iron supplement if using foods with high amounts of tannic acid.

Vaccines are deadly to many people. I would take my chances with Chikungunya and the fever and body aches before I put a possibly deadly vaccine in my body.
What is a healthy way to put a kid on a diet??? Or just to help them drop pounds?
My little sister is almost 8 years old and is very heavy for her age...weight 90+ lbs. I know kids shouldn't diet, and I figured she would grow out of it, but now kids are teasing her and she gets depressed and upset about it...what's a good way to help her lose her belly and amp her self esteem?
her school still has phys. ed, although limited. She is in a dance class, but they just hop around for a little while a couple times a week. Not much exercise. She doesn't have any interest in any particular sport either, i think she doesn't want to get on a team b/c kids tease her

Question answered by Mr. Peachy®
Who says kids shouldn't diet? If you feed your kid a healthy diet with lots of vegetables and whole grains along with some fruit, if they're fairly active, they will lose weight. You'd be surprised at how little protein and fat they need. If you check out some of these links, you'll see what I'm talking about:
Losing weight really is as simple as basic addition and subtraction. If the calories you eat add up to more than what you burn in a given time period, you will gain weight. Conversely, if you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. Depending on your size and activity level, the number of calories will vary quite a bit. The secret is finding your “break even” calorie intake level. For most people, the “ball park” figure will be around 1500 to 2000 calories per day. If you are larger than average, this number will be higher, lower if you are smaller than average. Metabolic rate can have an effect on these numbers as well. Exercise plays an important role also, as this can increase the number of calories you burn by quite a bit as well as increasing your metabolic rate.
If you want a generally healthy diet that’s easy to follow and avoids hunger, the one I recommend will do the job very well. You can fill up and still lose weight. Eat lots of fresh vegetables as they contain very few calories yet are full of good nutrition. The less you cook them, the more nutrition they retain. Stick with whole grains, as they tend to be better for you and don’t turn to sugar as readily as processed grains do. For example, whole grain bread is much better for you than plain white bread. Eat a variety of fruit on a daily basis. Avoid empty carbs, fats, and sugars…. Examples: junk food and soda. If you feel you need protein to build muscle, add some chicken or fish to your diet. Avoid beef and dairy products, the cons outweigh the pros.
If you can’t get your mind into the ‘eat to live; don’t live to eat’ mode, you should probably read this short article on the psychology behind overeating:

Question answered by Justice
They're not going to kill you. But many of these increasingly popular drinks contain significant amounts of caffeine, which can make you jittery and cause insomnia, as well as loads of sugar, which nobody needs. Worse, these drinks are often marketed to kids and teenagers, many of whom already struggle with their weight and don't need to add a caffeine addiction. "Energy drinks are rip-offs," said Bruce Silverglade , legal director of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, a Washington, D.C.-based consumer watchdog group that has been trying, unsuccessfully, to get the US Food and Drug Administration to force manufacturers to list the amount of caffeine on product labels.
In a study published last year in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology, Bruce A. Goldberger , director of toxicology at the University of Florida College of Medicine, tested the caffeine content of 10 energy drinks, including Red Bull, Red Devil, and Hair of the Dog.
In most energy drinks, he said, caffeine levels were higher than the FDA limit for sodas, which is 65 mg of caffeine per 12 ounces. The FDA does not regulate caffeine in energy drinks, some of which, like Cocaine, contain huge amounts of caffeine: 280 mg in an 8.4-ounce serving, compared with about 100 mg per 6 ounces in coffee.
Overall, caffeine "is relatively benign and is not associated with life-threatening health risks," said psychopharmacologist Roland Griffiths , a professor in the department of psychiatry and neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University and a caffeine expert. "But here it is being promoted in the form of energy drinks and, alarmingly, in many cases to children and adolescents," Griffiths said.
Caffeine can increase anxiety, panic, some stomach problems, and some cardiac arrhythmias. Although some data suggest that drinking coffee can be good for you, "we should not mistake coffee or caffeine as a health food," Griffiths said.

Question answered by Mary
This is the Vegetarian and Vegan section. You probably won't find a lot of people who take whey protein on this section. While some whey products are lacto-vegetarian, others may be obtained using animal rennet.
I'm an athletic vegan, and I get plenty of protein from food. On the rare occasions that I want to take a protein supplement, I use rice protein, hemp protein, or nutritional yeast, depending on what I'm putting it in and what I'm in the mood for.
You may find people with more experience with that particular product in the Diet and Fitness category.

I take up to 2 advil painkiller pills a day. I also workout and consume AMP protein by gnc.?
Will the protein be able to synthesis or are the painkillers hindering the effects ?
Sean
Question answered by ClickMaster
The Advil won't effect how your body uses protein. However, you're just wasting money on GNC when you should be eating food.
Here's why you should not use protein supplements.
• You don't need them.
Our species has survived for 150,000 generations without supplements. You grew from an infant to what you are today by eating food. There is absolutely no reason to take protein supplements if you have a normal diet. And, If you don't, fix the diet. If you take more protein than you body needs, the rest will be either excreted in urine, burned (metabolized), or used to synthesize fat.
• They are a poor source of nutrition
Protein supplements contain mostly protein and little else of value. Protein-bearing food contains a constellation of nutrients...vitamins, enzymes, minerals, and many more things your body can use to maintain itself. So, just adding one thing out of many to your diet is a bad nutritional deal for you. Food is the best nutritional bargain there is.
• Protein does not make muscles grow.
Exercise creates the stimulus for muscle growth. To turn that stimulation into growth, your body requires a host of nutrients including carbs, enzymes, amino acids, and more. Supplementing your diet with one thing but not others makes no sense at all and only proves that you are getting all you need from your food anyway.
• Protein is a diet killer and has the same calories as sugar.
Protein has the same caloric value as carbs or pure sugar (4 calories per gram). Protein can be as big a diet killer as sugary junk foods. There is no advantage to getting more protein than you need and here's how much you need --> http://www.cdc.gov/nutrition/everyone/basics/protein.html#How%20much%20protein according to the best minds in nutrition on the planet, the US CDC.
• Every US federal Health Agency warns against using supplements

• Protein Supplements may be contaminated
Many tests of protein supplements have revealed contaminants such as heavy metals (cadmium, lead, arsenic, mercury), salmonella bacteria, and byproducts of pesticides, fertilizers, etc. In the US, there is no statutory requirement (law) that requires protein supplement makers to test their products. Watch this video from CBS news --> http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-500202_162-6537686.html and note that Muscle Milk was one of the products found to be contaminated.
