Why is it cheaper for men to get their hair done?
Our local unisex hairdressers is doing a special offer - cut blow dry and highlights for a woman is £43, for a man the same thing is only £28? Why is this? I always used to think it's because men have less hair to work with but with today's hair styles this is definitely not the case. Is it legal, is it sex discrimination?
LOTS of women have short hair too and some men have long hair. It should be different for each individual no matter what sex they are.

It could be to get more men into the salon , i do get what you mean and it is wrong more woman now have shorter hair than the blokes, but there is no law to say how much thay can charge thay can charge what ever thay like as long as it displayed, but 43 quid is very cheap for H/L and cut and blow.

Can anyone recommend me a good hairdresser that knows how to handle thick and wavy hair? (Singapore)?
my hair is quite thick and heavy, so when i need a haircut, not many hairdressers know how to handle the thickness well.
they give me unflattering cuts and when the hair grows out, it gets uneven. does anyone know where their hairdressers are able to work with hair like mine? and affordable prices are a bonus too!
thanks. :)

Try my hair stylist, Irene at Orchard Cuppage Plaza, #02-07 Finger Art Unisex Beauty Saloon. Price is definitely affordable. I have thick and wavy hair too. Do not go to Jean Yip salons as the different branches hair stylists keep asking you to do different type of treatments and not happy if you just want to cut your hair alone. My own bad experiences, Sigh!
Good male/unisex hairdressers in London where they can look at you and know which cut would be good for you?
I'm bored of my current hair and I need some advice from a decent hairdresser. I want to go in and for them to be able to look at my hair and give me some recommendations.
I mean places that will serve males. I don't mind if the hairdresser is female.

Seniors do you go to the beauty parlor or barber shop still?
How many of you ladies get your hair set on rollers and dried under the old style dryers and then teased, fluffed and set with hairspray once a week? How many of you men go to an old fashioned styled barber instead of one of those unisex chain hair cut stores?

Question answered by the bellepepper
I have very off the wall short spiky hair that requires a cut every 4 weeks and color every other visit. My husband's lady barber works in a rather old fashioned beauty salon since she sold her barber shop last year. I love taking him there. The hairdressers are all seniors and so are the clientele. The "I'm not gonna touch this hair again until I come back next week" type of hairstyles. They are all so much fun! I wish that one of them would learn how to do my kind of cut because I would become their new client in a heartbeat. I have asked them all if they would do it, but they have said, no. Didn't want to have to go back to school to learn the quirky styles.
What is a good name for hairdressing shop?

Man's, woman's, unisex, it will make a difference. For women's, "All Tress-ed Up" for men's "Mike's Barber Shop.", unisex is a bit more difficult
What trades do you need to immigrate to canada?
I am a Level 2 qualified hairdresser and I am also a qualified nail technician. I have just moved from a salon to a barbers and I am starting to think that the hairdressing field really isnt for me as there is no full time jobs any where!
I am currently working towards a level 3 in hairdressing which is not essential but is a qualification which takes you from being a qualified hairdresser to you being a senior hairdresser. But the college I am at now say that I may not be able to do the course as I am not in a unisex salon any more so i may have to give up the course.
I am looking at getting a full time reception job as I also have 3 A levels and 11 GCSE grades. Then I would do mobile hairdressing work self employed around it.
My question really is, I am wanting to immigrate with my partner who is a self employed mechanic, in approximately 10 years when i have proper savings. Will the hair and nail qualifications that I already have be enough for me to get in as a skilled worker if I am self employed as a mobile hairdresser and nail technician??
Rebecca
Question answered by
I am not sure that hairdressers are in the list of jobs in demand now.
Mechanic seems to be more desired.
As long as u two are good health, zero criminal record, able to speak good English, have enough funds, feel free to try.
Hairdressers prices for men and women?
I've been looking on the internet for a new hairdressers and was shocked to find that a lot of places charge different prices for men and women.
I'm a woman but have really short hair, even shorter than a lot of men. So I don't understand why I should have to pay extra just for being female.
Is this not blatant sexism? Does anyone else think this is unfair or can anyone give me a valid reason why I should pay extra?

I have my own salon and I totally agree with you, also my hair sounds as short as yours, and for someone like this I would charge a max of £6 that is to cut it or trim it and finger dry
and seeing I have been London trained in cutting techniques your cut would be good, there is no reason at all for salons to charge ridiculous prices for a female with short hair, and the chances are you would end up with a junior stylist and charge a full price, I have spoken to many many females about this
and they agree its a rip off, a lot of salons will also want to shampoo your hair as well to bring the price up, when you can do it just dampening it down, I know a lot of short haired females now use a unisex barbers as the price is cheaper no waiting and the cut is good, they is no valid reason at all
and my own salon charging you £6 i would still make at least £3 profit, but not only that if you where satisfied you would come back again and again, pity you don't live in Cornwall
as you could come to me, I have heard prices of £20 + totally ridiculous, one of the best questions I have seen for ages
females like yourself should not be ripped of

Question answered by Sophie.L
just go to a different hairdresser and bring a couple of pics, if you go to a more professional salon they should get it right or close to it, try a unisex place if your not going to one
haha i just realised who that guy is! one of my friends spent months growing his hair to make it like that guys! it involves a lotta straightning if your hair isnt dead straight
