My other half is setting up a gardening services company and we're currently looking at what his company logo should look like. It'll be on advertising leaflets, business cards , a website and possibly on his pick up truck. We've done a dragonfly design so far but was wondering if anyone had any good ideas. We want to portray that he's reliable ,efficient, knowledgeable in plants and horiculture and can take on work pople just don't have time for.

Can anyone tell me how much it would cost me to hire a gardener to fix my garden in UK?

I have a small garden (10 meters long, 4 meters wide) and it's a mess. Full of weed and random stuff. The task of doing it myself is scary. Could anyone advise me how much it would roughly cost me to hire gardening services just to clear it up and put it usable. I live London, UK.

Do not waste your money hiring a company to clear it. You do not need trained/qualified people to clear a garden just muscle. As long as you can oversee what is done try hiring college/uni students. They will work for much less and do just as good a job. It is a shame you do not live closer or I would sort this out for you. I often get called in after so called 'Landscapers' or 'Gardening Services' completely mess up a garden and charge a fortune for doing so. In a lot of cases these people set themselves up with a van and a few tools without any idea at all of what they are doing. EDIT...Sodium chlorate is so toxic you would not be able to plant ANYTHING for at least 6 months. It should only ever be used on waste ground or paths etc. where nothing is going to be planted. I never use it.

How much should i charge for garden maintainence?

Me and 3 other friend are thinking of starting a gardening maintainence business in the summer but we are un-sure how to charge and how much to charge, should we charge using hourly rates? or charge by the jobs we do? we are looking to do all gardening services such as cutting grass, painting fences, trimming hedges, weeding, watering plants etc. Please help, thankyou!!!

Try starting with a dollar amount, say, $15 per hour(?) per person. Factor in your travel time to and fro. ( the job to dumps). Check with the dumps for fees. Your gas costs. Now the challenging part, estimate actual labor to do the job. How fast are you guys? Factor in sq footage, heights of hedges. Electrical sources. How fast can your power equipment make you.? If you underestimate your time in the job you will have to eat it. you will get better as you go. If you lose money on one job, maybe you can make it up on the next. . Maintenance is a per job price though. Good luck.

There are many places. There's no 'best' place. A site with high traffic does not always equal buyers, they could be browsers. I say advertise where you can really. There is: Gumtree Vivastreet Sellit-Right Locanto Loot Adtrader Oodle Friday-Ad Adoos Hallolondon Many of them are great and easy to use. Also make sure you update your ads weekly, monthly. Check views and any responses.

get T shirts printed with 'Booy does it with Hoes' Otherwise, I put an advert in local magazine to do the same thing and had leaflets printed and I would say that the advert got more initial customers. From there you will be surprised how much word of mouth gets you work. Just give people value for money and they will recommend you to their friends. Also if you are honest and hardworking you will be surprised how generous people will be. There are a lot of ne'er do wells ripping people off in this line of work. Like anything else if you are good at what you do you will succeed. If you include landscaping you will be expected to do drives, walls, paths etc. Be aware the bad weather we have in latter years cuts your working time ruthlessly so it is difficult to be affordable and earn a living. Having said this it is a great way to earn a living if you enjoy it.

I'm afraid that this is classic "Google is your friend" territory. Google it, ask your friends, call your local university for a horticulturist, or ask your local nursery for suggestions. You have a common problem, I just read a UK Telegraph article that says that even the queen is looking for a head gardener. Greeting ards is when you give cards to someone in occasion of festivals like Christmas, Diwali etc. it strengths the relation between people. it also sometimes weakens the relation because if you cannot affford to buy a card and christmas is near. people who are expecting your card might think you ignored them. face painting is when you paint someone's face in any style- gothic, funny character etc. its strengths are it helps in representing a group or a media. its problems are it causes allergy in face.

Where can I find workers to change soil in my yard?

It was a small swimming pool in my yard and I filled it up with soil when remodel. But the soil is bad with a lot of stones and other things... So I want to find somebody to remove about 1 foot deep soil and put good soil. I contacted some garden service but they normally do the whole yard design and don't do this kind of things. Do I Need a License for landscaping in CA before i advertise?

I been doing gardening service for years now and i been throwing those small paper advertisement around city. If i mow lawn, replace lawn, new cement, gardening, fence repairing, and etc. Can i post the my advertisement on Craigslist under farm&garden services or do i need a License in CA before i can advertise on Craigslist?

You can advertise all you want to as long as you are not deceiving the public because that would be considered false advertising. You can not however run a business without a business license. If caught doing business without one you would be charged big bucks in fines and possibly jail time. California is cracking down big time on people who run a business without a licence and Landscaping is one of them. Sorry

Is it very profitable to install irrigation or sprinkler systems in lawns?
