Where Can I get a Voucher for a Garden Tools shop in Athens?

Friends of mine have brought a house near Athens, and I would like to get them a voucher to buy garden tools. Can anybody advise me.

Wilf

Question answered by Sandy Mac

The only thing I can think of is to ring Tourist Information on +210 0606 8800 and ask them.....or ask them to look up a number for Garden Centres, Plant Sales or Nurseries in the area and go from there. Hope this helps :-)

Where can I find Fiskars Garden Tool wholesalers who will drop ship for any amount?

I'm operating an online business selling garden tools, and need to broaden my selection of tools. Fiskars minimum wholesale shipment is $500. I'm not ready for that. Another wholesaler has a 450 minimum. Most garden tools wholesale under $20, so that precludes their drop shipping to my customers. Who is out there that is reliable? I meant $50 not $450

HI If in you live in Uk then its car boot sales, best and lowest price, also older tools if in good order they are better quality than the modern ones,if in another country garage sale/flea markets, Re lawn mower most likely it would be better to buy new, plenty of offers on now in DIY stores, All the best John

What is this garden tool? It has a long stick and a spikey wheel on the end?

It looks more like a midevel weapon than a garden tool.

Question answered by scttkls

it's a cultivator, you use it between the rows of your garden to turn small weeds in before they get started. just roll that weapon looking end along the top of soil. you have to do this when the baby weeds have only two or four leaves and are still very small. may sound like a lot of work; but it is much less work than pulling weds when they get big.

What are the essential tools for a beginning gardener?

I have a friend who is wanting to start gardening in her bare backyard. Her birthday is coming up and I want to put together a little package of essential gardening tools. I don't know anything about gardening myself, so please help!

Question answered by mw

I am a long time gardener, and I own a variety of tools, each does a specific job. If your friend is going to plant roses or shrubs, a pair of hand pruners would be welcome (about $12). A shovel is great (I only use short handled ones, I like that type best). $8 - $15 Small tools like a trowel and a hand hoe are nice (I never use a big hoe,it's too much work). $5 - 10 And gloves. Nice, leather gloves, the thinner the better ($10). A metal rake, the kind for moving soil or small rocks as opposed to the floppy leaf rake. I love to use a heavy rake to smooth out planting beds. $8 - 12 A good book on gardening, preferably organic gardening would be the best gift of all. $20 There are some excellent gardening forums in cyber land too, with people who have all sorts of know how. If you shop around, you might find very cheap garden tools as stores tend to try to get rid of all that stuff by the end of summer. I can garden anywhere with gloves, a shovel, a rake and a trowel. I can only prune things if I have snips, so those are the basics, for me (been gardening a long, long time).

Old garden tools for charity?

I know there are charities who collect donations of old but useable garden tools for passing on to Third World countries. Does anyone know which charity(ies) this is?

Salvation Army. They take anything and everything. What they can't use they ship oversea. Best thing is it's tax deductible.

Where to get wood, timber and other things to build a shed for an allotment?

I just took on an allotment but there is no shed or anything, where do I get wood, timber and other bits to build a shed. Where do I get bits and bobs, garden tools to maintain it. I don´t wanna spend a great deal of money on it, better even if I could get it for free. Or is there anywhere near Lincoln, Uk a junk yard where I can get bits like that?

ak

Question answered by Dory

Join your local freecycle group and put a wanted ad. I got loads of bits for my allotment. I was lucky and got a greenhouse from ebay for £10. so it may be worth looking on there too. Best of luck. http://www.freecycle.org/group/United%20Kingdom/East%20Midlands/Lincoln

Christmas present for a garden lover?

What would be a good Christmas present for a person who loves to garden, but has all the gardening tools that exist?

LaLaLalu

Question answered by Theamaryllisqueen

A gift card, an amaryllis bulb, a really rare plant for the special garden lover, a plant encyclopedia, cactus seeds, a seed propagator, a greenhouse, a fertilizer, a venus flytrap.

Is a goat a viable substitute to a lawnmower?

Serious answers only please. We have just moved to a very rural setting with a fair sized secured garden. I suffer from carpal tunnel and can no longer work with motorised garden tools. Would a goat do as good a job as the lawnmower in the long run?

Part Time Cynic

Question answered by The goblin

No a goat is no use for that job. They are browsers not grazers, which means your trees, shrubs and plants will be massacred. What you want is a sheep which grazes and will keep a good sized lawn short and fertilised!
