Question answered by JASON P

Hi there I have worked in fitness equipment retail for 8 years now and have a Bachelor of Physical Education. To answer your question, it does not matter which peice of equipment you use as long as you're comfortable on it as all cardio equipment is mean't for weight loss or cardiovascular excercise. Ellipticals are good because they are low to no impact while still providing weight bearing activity to keep the bones strong. Problem with ellipticals is that you need to be able to put forth $2500 or more to get one that feels good, is biomechanically correct and can handle your "bigger" stature as you'll want something well built. Recumbent bikes are much cheaper, will provide you with cardio/weight loss excercise and are easy to use. Ellipticals are more efficient than the bikes because you use your entire body meaning more calories expended over a shorter period of time. People also tend to get bored on the bikes. My suggestion is to go to a gym and try them both before you buy. Last thing you want is to buy something that you don't like. As for a website, I am unsure of that. Try some of the fitness equipment manufacturing sites such as many times they will have helpful hints on buying the equipment. www.precor.com, www.iamstrong.ca (this one is more towards health and lifestyle and has testiomonials). Hope this helps!

Where can I buy kettlebells and other fitness equipment in Geneva Switzerland?

I'm looking to buy some home fitness equipment for our place in France and kettlebells, plyo balls, etc would be at the top of the list. Any ideas?

Patrick

Question answered by Crazy_Teacher

A few options: There are quite a few sports stores in malls in Geneva. The malls are: Balexert (mall), Praille (mall), MPark and in Meyrin Shopping center next to Media Markt (in the same building with Pfster). All of these sell your standard equipment for working out. Next you have downtown. Here I can only think of two: Manor (small but has a number of products) and Oschner on the Rue Bas. If you want to save a penny, you can also check out these websites, which are the trusted websites for buying and selling used stuff in Switzerland: www.anibis.ch http://www.petitesannonces.ch/ www.ricardo.ch The last one is 'like ebay' but ebay isnt as popular over here as it is elsewhere. Last but not least you could try Amazon.fr That might sound loony but they just started FREE SHIPPING to Switzerland which has changed my life (for books anyway). Hope that helps!

What fitness equipment should I get?

I would like to lose 50 lbs. I've already got my diet changed and have been sticking with that for the past 2 months or so and it seems to be working. Now I am looking into buying some fitness equipment so I can get in good workouts at home (I have no intention of joining a gym) and I would like to know which stuff works best. Treadmill, elliptical, jump rope? Whatever is the most effective for weight loss really. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Question answered by CKFit

Saralahalawawa, The honest answer to this question is very dependent upon you. There is no one size fits all equipment option that best suits you needs. For the intro user I would highly suggest cardio equipment. While a treadmill can help you lose weight quickly, the impact on your joints (knees, hips, and lower back) can be more substantial versus an elliptical trainer, or a recumbent bike. For the most intense workout and to shed weight the most effective way I would recommend products that incorporate total body movement to allow parts of your body to be exercised and all your muscles to burn fat. In my personal option you should take a look at indoor rowers, Jacobs Ladder, and possibly a VersaClimber. P.S. If you want the most intense workout at home, you can invest in a StairMaster Stepmill - depending on your cardio level 15-30 minutes will be enough to make you cry :-)

Need help to find a good fitness equipment?

I'm 23 yrs old and weighs 62.My daughter is 11months old. Now I'm planning to buy a fitness equipment to reduce my weight.I want to tone and get shape. So can you suggest me a fitness equipment which would give full body work out. I came through some equipments which are kind of 4 in 1 or 6 in 1.Are those things are good to use.

Question answered by I Believe in the Blue and Gold

When I was looking into this a few years back, a frined of mine who works in the fitness industry recommended a cross trainer (also called an eliptical). She advised the following: 1) Treadmill: Mostly it is the machine doing the work whereas the crosstrainer is moved soley my how fast you move your arms and or legs. 2) Cross trainer can be used with legs moving either forwards or backwards which use different muscle groups. 3) You can also move the cross trainer soley with your arms whereas a treamill does not work your arms (and neither will an exercise bike). So you will effectively be moving 62kg's with your arms which will use loads of energy and build muscle. 4) There are a lot of inbuilt programmes in the cross trainer that you can utilise to build strength and fitness. 5) Add to this some free weights and other exercises for core strength and you'll be looking good in no time!!!

What would the cost of shipping fitness equipment be?

I would like to know an estimate for a shipping company to pickup and ship about 800 pounds of fitness equipment about 400 miles to my house. If anyone has any idea what that may cost then it would be helpful.

What do you think? A small group personal training facility with stations of identical fitness equipment?

What do you think? A small group personal training facility with stations of identical fitness equipment? Classes would be an hour long, comprising of strength, cardio, and stretching. A personal trainer would hold the class for 10 members every hour. 3 times per week one hour workout suggested for best results. What do you think?
