What is the cause of dropsy in fish and how can it be cured and can it affect my other fish?
My fish are platys.
My water in my tank is all fine i check it all the time.

Question answered by Erik
poor water quality makes fish weak, and then they can develop serious health problems like
bacterial and parasitic infections. Healthy fish usually can fight these things off and recover.
Dropsy is just a symptom of an underlying health issue.

For Just a bowl I would go with a Betta, They are very easy to take care of and u wont have to change the water much or even ad stuff to the bottom of the tank. If u want to put an air stone to give some kind of filtration and make it so u have to perform water changes you can do that. Putting some tank rocks maybe 1 item for the fish to swim around and adding an air stone would make the tank look nice and give the fish more color.

All fish eat other fishes fry, they might even eat their own! Fry need their own tanks without bigger fish being in there with them, that way they won't get eaten!
Fish recipes for someone who is picky with fish?
I don't mind fish. I really like salmon baked on a cedar plank, and tuna salad - I love fish and chips.
However, I hate anything that tastes or smells fishy. I don't know which kinds of fish are more likely to have that smell and taste - or if its a certain way of packaging/preparing before buying that makes fish more likely to taste like that.
I stay away from making fish because of it, but I would really like to eat it more and try different kinds.
Any recipes or tips on buying fish?

Start off by using boxed fillets(generally white fillets are the best to begin with) or filleted and sliced fresh fish from your local supermarket. This way there's barely a fish smell , if at all.Once you get used to (fall in love!!) with these then you could progress onto buying whole fish and eventually - even gut them yourself! Just kidding, but here is a fantastic recipe:
Pan fry fish fillets until done and keep warm.
(I love to use fresh, filleted Atlantic Salmon but frozen fish works perfectly as well)
Gently heat about 1/2 a cup of thickened cream. When it reaches a sauce like consistency, add in 20g butter (regular, salted)and 1 1/2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Continue stirring and cooking until butter is melted and the desired consistency is reached.
Switch off stove and add in a little chopped fresh cilantro or parsley and a quick grind of black pepper.
Serve immediately spooned over fish with a greek salad on the side.
ENJOY!

You know, I've noticed that same oddity when eating fish. For the rest of the evening I seem to want a lot of water to drink. But I'm sure it is just because of the seasoning or the salt .Can't be just because it is fish, can it?

Question answered by Erik
if you absolutely insist: any non-agressive fish big enough to not be food for the frogs, and small enough to not eat/hurt the frogs.
fish and frogs aren't a great combination in aquariums:
African Clawed Frogs - those get big enough and will eat fish
iAfrican Dwarf Frogs - they often get outcompeted for food by fish and will starve to death, and they are fairly fragile. Fish can easily break their limbs.
Why fish is better to buy: fresh fish from the ocean or farm fish?
I would say farm fish because it doesn't have dirtiness and ocean fish can have oil on it after a tanker spill it gas on it. I rather go with organic foods then regular food.

Question answered by Doctor J
Fresh ocean fish has naturally occurring amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. Farmed fish usually are very low in omega-3s because they are fed 'unnatural' food sources.
Go with the 'real thing'!
