What are the benefits and disadvantages of birth control?

I'm 16 & i'm about to get on birth control. I was wondering if someone could tell me benefits and disadvantages of taking the pill. & if you have any tips that would be lovely! oh & also i'm getting them from a Family Planning Center, & i'm not telling my mom about this. Does anyone know how much it would cost?

PROS: -more effective of preventing pregnancies then some other contraceptives (if used properly) - mentrual cycle regulation - can improve acne - safe for many women - does not effect firtility in future years - lighter menstrual cycle - Makes you less likely to get ovarian and uterine cancer, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian cysts, and anemia - doesnt inturrupt sex (dont need to stop and put a condom on) - descreases risk of reproductive cancers and disorders CONS: - can cause depression - headaches - light bleeding or spotting between periods - MUST be taken everyday, at the SAME time, or else it is not effective - doesnt protect against STD's I dont personally use birth control pills at the moment, (im 14(almost 15)), but i know my friend whose 15 uses birth control and at the health clinic she goes to it cost about $9. Im not sure about family planning centre though. Hope this helps!

What percentage of people who take childbirth classes take them at hospitals?

I've determined that people take childbirth classes at hopitals, family planning centers, and through not for profit organizations. It would be really helpful if someone could give me the sales and customer percentages for these segments. I need this information as soon as possible. You would be a huge help.

Maybe you should make a phone call to the places that hold the classes and see if you can get information from them. We won't know that here.

Ok so i got my blood work results back can it be accurate for pregnancy?

So, about 2 days ago, i went to the Family Planning Center, and got bloodwork. About a week ago me and my boyfriend had sex. Is it possible that the blood work is correct this early?

What is the process for getting Birth Control at a pregnancy clinic?

I don't have a regular doctor and I am still on my parents insurance, so they would find out. I just want to go to a pregnancy clinic/family planning center and get birth control. I'm 17 and I live in Pennsylvania. From my understanding, birth control would be confidential between me and my doctor, correct?

Lisa

Question answered by M. Marie

not necessarily. your parents will get the insurance bill so they will see it. just tell your mom your cramps are getting really bad and your flow is getting ridiculously heavy. tell her you want birth control to lessen the pain and make the amount of blood more manageable. that's what i did and i got it no problem. its common knowledge that BC helps with that kind of stuff and some people really do go on it for only those reasons. to get BC you would have to get a papsmear and lab work done. you would get the prescription right away and they would call you with the results of the lab work after a few days. you fill out the normal paperwork for the doctor but you would need your parents signature for the insurance. plus you may need to try a few different pills before you find one that agrees with your system. some might get you sick while others may not. its a process but its worth it in the long run. hope that helped! :) Good luck!

You can go to this webpage and look at the different forms of birth control. Under each of them they will have a place you can click on for the benefits and disadvantages of that particular form of birth control. And it says a figure of how much each of them should cost at the top of the page. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/birth-control-4211.htm Good luck

Question answered by mz_sugsweeti

First things first , I really think you should talk to your mother... you will be taking medications that may possibly have some side effects. And I am pretty sure she would be able to answer any further questions you might have. But since you asked ... I think there are just as many benefits as well as disadvantages with using contraceptives ,depending on where you live and what you decide to use the cost can range from $0 up too hundreds of dollars with out insurance. The main disadvantage is side effects from the medications along with weight gain. I wont get on a soap box but abstinence is 100% against unwanted pregnancy. If you have decided/deciding to become sexually active just choose the right one for your body and lifestyle and remember contraceptives wont protect you from diseases , so use condoms along with your choice of birth control. Also PLEASE get vaccinated for HPV (do some research on that). Hope this helps Good luck and be safe

Where do you get a medical abortion in Melbourne?

I was thinking of getting a medical abortion. I want to know where other women got it from. Or do you have to go to a family planning centre?

Question answered by Ayla

I am going to be completely honest with you and ask you to reconsider. I don't know what your situation is or how difficult it would be for you to have the child, but I do not want you to go through pain or regret. Once you make this decision, you can never bring your child back to life. I do not want you to live with regret, wondering what would have happened if your baby was still alive, how you would be raising her, taking her to birthday parties, or combing her hair in the morning. I've met women who have faced similar decisions, and each of them agreed that they would give anything to turn back time. My email is ava44182@yahoo.com. I can also send you my cell number. If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to message me. I am willing to do all the I can to help you through this.

How do I get birth control in Rome, Italy?

I'm interning in Rome for about four months soon. If I were to decide to start taking the Pill, how would I go about doing that? Are there family planning centers similar to Planned Parenthood?

Lemondrop

Question answered by Pinguino

You just need a medical prescription. A centre providing health and social services in Italy is called "consultorio", you're not going to have any difficult in order to find one in most main cities but anyway you can always go to the local ASL (Azienda Sanitaria Locale).

Who thinks this is fair and why, Wisconsin question?

If Governor Walker of Wisconsin has his way his state budget will: -Allow pharmacies to refuse to fill birth control prescriptions, but it is still illegal to refuse to fill Viagra prescriptions. -Close public family planning centers where the bulk of reproductive health screening for the uninsured occur. So no more birth control prescriptions, or cancer screenings for the uninsured in Wisconsin. -Cut budgets for schools, and prevent county and town officials from even asking local residents if they would allow increased taxes. The layoff have already started without the governor issuing them, most of the special needs programs have been gutted all over Wisconsin by the schools.

Question answered by Libraryanna

The only ones who think it's fair are the rich who will benefit from it and the people who have swallowed the lies of the corporatocracy. All of what he is doing is to benefit the extremely wealthy while make the poor and middle class pay for it. Doesn't make any sense, since the rich can afford it. Wisconsin has one of the best school systems in the country and he wants to destroy it. He wants to destroy the middle class and make everyone poor so they can be wage slaves to the corporations and have no say in anything. Prancing, I'm betting people have explained it to you, but you don't want to hear it. Public employees, on average, are paid less than folks doing the same job in private industry. The reason they accept less is because they get more benefits and a pension. It's not rocket science. Not Walker and Kock brothers and other rich guys are trying to convince you that it's unfair. What's unfair is that they have accepted lower pay for years on the promise they will get a good pension and decent benefits and these bastards want to break that promise. So tell me, what's fair about that?
