That's a tough question and the answer is probably you, through your homeowner's or renter's insurance. It's not even required in some jurisdictions for police to pay for damages if THEY cause property damage while legally and correctly carrying out their duties with a valid warrant. It sounds like the person arrested caused your damage. In cases like that you're probably out of luck unless you want the legal hassle of suing the criminal in small claims court, but even if a judge orders the person to pay you, you often can't collect your money. If you have insurance, file a claim and the damage might be covered, minus your deductible. It's up to your insurance company to decide whether or not they try to get the money back from any insurance the suspect might have. If you don't have insurance and really can't afford the repairs, you could ask the police or district attorney's office if your area has a victim's compensation fund. In most cases, victim's of crime would apply to the fund for financial help for expenses. While most applicants would probably be victims of more severe crimes than damage from stray bullets, you technically are a victim in this situation and might be able to file for help. First find out if your city or state has such a fund and get contact information if so. Then ask the staff who run the program if you are eligible to apply. The answer might be yes, but you may have to file a police report of property damage first. Also, you may only get part, not all, of the costs covered. According to the smart-ass garage door repair man, I shouldn't have done this. Anywho...I 'm trying to get an idea of how much a repair like this should cost. The coil/spring is broken and those tension wires on each side aren't functioning. Can anybody help?

Suppose it totally depends on where you live, but in our area (Oregon) I paid $80 for a repair call. That was the total charge to fix almost the identical problem. We used "Overhead Door" which is probably a well-known company. Why should they be smart-***? Our errors pay their bills.How much can I expect to pay for garage door repair? lol, basically he's complaining that you burned his door. The good news is if you travel in time, there will be another old man in the same spot who GIVES you money instead of taking it all away. Please let me know. thanks Syed Qadri I found out as per my property manager that garage door is covered as they installed th garage doors last year only. and they will send a contractor to have a look at my garage door repair. There is a deductile amount on my insurance and if it is my faukt to have the garage damaged then I have to pay the deductibale amount and rest from the insurance.

You need to read your strata agreement. It will clearly spell out what is your property, what is common property, what is strata property, and who is responsible for both repairs and costs. It will then say if there are any exceptions in terms of maintenance -- for example, whether you have to contact strata, use certain materials, employee certain companies, etc. I would suspect that if the garage is only accessible by you, it would be your property.How long should it take to replace a sliding glass door?
I have lived in my apt for a year, and always had maintenance problems. Now I've escalated the sliding door repair (needed since move-in) all the way to the owner. I've been told that it could take more than 3 more months. I have taken the necessary steps to do repair and deduct, which is to repair it myself and deduct it from the rent. The last step necessary is to give them a reasonable time to fix it. So, what is a reasonable amount of time to order and install a sliding glass door?

call ahead - they will ask for an in-home consultation - this is how they do it, just go with it, they will measure, order, and fit the door. Shouldn't take more than 2 days. Fitting it isn't as difficult, its just getting the product! :)How can you have ants coming out of cold water in a fridge door?
About 4 days ago we started getting ants coming out in the fridge door's cold water. So far haven't noticed any ants in ice. There are no ants in the fridge or in the other water faucets in house. There is a filter for the water coming through the line into the cold water and ice lines. Any clue as to what is going on here? Yes, some of them are still alive and no, there is not a trail of ants leading up to external part where cold water comes out. We called the Maytag (fridge is new Maytag 02 with french doors, cold water and ice in door) repair here and they never heard of it. Any clue to how they are getting into the line???? Thanks for any help you can give.

u'll have to get outdoor barrier spray to keep them out. put any sweet stuff like honey etc, away into the fridge, make sure its cleaned... usually sauces or honey left out that attracts em inside the house...I'm looking for a resource to obtain garage door parts in bulk amounts - but all I find are individual parts?
Looking to start obtaining parts for garage door repair and installation in large amounts so that I can begin doing doors on the side part time and eventually possibly focus on starting my own business. All I seem to find on the internet are sites selling parts for individual home repair. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Get the manufacturer's name and, hopefully, the city or address off the part. Call 1-800-555-1212 and ask for an 800 number for them. Call them and ask for customer service. Tell them you want to use their products in bulk and take it from there.
