Is 93 community service hours a good amount of hours for applying to college? How many hrs did you have?
Community college student applying to a UC, is 93 a good amount of hours?

Colleges do not care about the number of hours, but the quality of the community service that you did. They want to know what you gained from the experience.
What community service looks good for colleges?
I have little to NO community service under my belt in high school. I'm worried that without community service, it won't set me apart in college.
What community service should I get involved in to help me look good for colleges?

There's no 'better' community service. Anything to help out works ! If your having trouble finding community service, join clubs at your school. I know PRIDE and Key Club hold many events that give community service hours to the students if they participate in events. I'm a sophmore, and I've gotten 20 hours from this alone
What are good community colleges in California to study biology?
A community college that has good courses in biology, microbiology , genetics, molecular biology etc... I am low income and I'm looking for a community college that can offer these courses .
Hernandez Carolina
Question answered by Rustic B
Community colleges don't do that. While true that you'll find some general biology courses, there won't be a major and won't be courses in genetics. You need to attend a university for that.

Question answered by Anish Varghese
hi mir zama.
You have the possibility to send your request to all of your friends via orkut. I guess you didn't try well. Get in to your newly created community and try some links. it must work.
Or you can get the email id of all of the friends and send the community link from your email, like gmail account.
best of luck

What benefits can a community get if most of its residents are permanent?
The community is not really big. Most residents live permanently. How can it help the community to improve? Or does it have any benefit at all? Pls. do put as many benefits as you can. Disadvantages are also accepted. Thank You.

Question answered by shoes_717
Permanency of residents in a community has many advantages. First of all people are vested in the quality of life. Pay taxes to allow the community services to stay afloat. Residents are vested in the community's growth and expansion. The children are usually safer.
On the other side there are disadvantages. Ownership sometimes creates volatile situations. Attempting to keep others out. General nosiness. (for lack of a better term) . I think at times lack of privacy. Sometimes an unwillingness to change. ("we have always done it this
way")
Overall I think the benefits outweigh the disadvantages if the residents are open minded and willing to work together on projects, and problem solving ..
What types of community service is Delta Sigma Theta Sorority interested in for prospective alumnae members?
I participate in 1-2 community walks for breast cancer and the UNCF in my city every year. I also participated, for the 1st time last year, in Holiday Adopt-A-Child program. Do these types of activities constitute community service?
Char
Question answered by DableST1
Yes, they definitely count towards community service. We look for a variety of community service projects when trying to choose prospective members for our organization. We also look for people who have a longevity of community service as well, so if you have participated in community walks for breast cancer and UNCF every year, then you should be fine. What we don't want is people that have community service JUST before Rush. That shows up that they are just trying to put in a few hours before MIP. Since we are considered a community service organization and not a social org, then community service is obviously VERY important to us.
Good luck to you, and continue serving your community!
What are my chances of a college grad finding community service employment in Thailand??
If Community Service is unlikely, how about a teaching job?
TK
Question answered by thaikarl
you can find community service jobs, but if you don't speak thai, your choices are limited. and the pay will be dismal, even my thai standards. unless you can get hired by a NGO (non-governmental-organization) from out of the country.
you can teach english, BUT since that idiot who claimed he killed that little girl in denver was teaching english in thailand, (story: http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_4190797 ) the thai goverment has tightened the requirements. you now have to have a ESL certification, college degree, backround check, and you have to take a 'thai culture' course. all of these requirements must be certified and documented, then verified. that is, if you want to teach legally, and get a genuine work permit. from what i know tho, you can still get teaching jobs, but you will be less-than-legal, might not get a work permit and won't get paid as well. there is a long and detailed article about teaching english in thailand at: http://www.stickmanbangkok.com/teaching.html . if you are single, teaching will give you a pretty decent lifestyle. if you have a family to support (like i do) you will do okay, but most of the family supporting teachers i know there are just getting by- friends and family have to come to thailand to see them, saving up the price of a plane ticket back to england or USA is just too hard. but, you can do this if you want to. best way to to be in the country. bangkok post has ads everyday for teachers and other positions. if you are outside the country, trying to find a job online- you get to dealing with agencies and what all that you have no idea if they are fully legit. get a 60 day visa, (renewable for 30 days). you'll have 90 days to see what you can find. good luck.
How can the community affect an individual to see a doctor about depression?
How can a community affect an individual to go to a health carer or doctor to help deal with depression?
jessica daniels
Question answered by yyyyzz (wise)
No way. Firstly it is none of their business. Secondly it is best if a loved one tries to convince the individual to go and seek help. If shuff comes to push a full blown intervention is needed. The community can take it up with family, friends, pastor, etc.. but that is it.
Peace.
What's the role of nonprofits and community organizing when low-income families are integrated in a.....?
middle class community? and what should take place?
Dazed
Question answered by Connie
The role of nonprofits and community organizing in this situation should be to make sure lower income families needs are met. Parents are often working 2 jobs or not around for other reasons. Programs like the Boys and Girls Clubs and the Y need to be funded. Kids need to be in school and involved in the community- not gangs. It is a quick fall from things are ok to how did the drugs and street violence begin?
Hope this answers what you are looking for.
How is my community service beneficial to the community?
I have to write a paper about my community service. I did volunteer work at an attorney's office, I mainly answered incoming calls and did a ton of filing. So how does this benefit my community?
Colie Loves Her Jetta
Question answered by em
Volunteer work is not always community service. What you did sounds like an unpaid internship, unless the lawyer does community service by providing certain services to the community for free.
