I work for a company who specializes in cleaning services and I want to know what is the best way to sell that?

Hi Everyone, I just landed a new job selling cleaning services for a cleaning company. I want to do this job right and my main requirement is gaining new customers by calling around. I can not go into their business and present myself but wanted to know if anybody can give me some sugestions. When I call, I fear I sound like a telemarketer especally when I am talking to the manager/owner. Can anyone help me?

Educate yourself as much as possible with the company and the industry. The more you know the more confident you will become selling the cleaning service. Focus on key selling points that makes your company different than everyone elses, i.e. quality, price, experience, etc.

The same way it did the last time minimum wage went up and the time before that. Nothing. People who own cleaning services are already operating at the most efficient costs. They cannot afford to fire people simply because they cannot afford to pay people extra. The business will have to cut its profits and in return, that money that went into savings will now be spent on the economy. Rob the rich to pay the poor. Everyone loves that movie, but in real life that guy sucks? Why is that? Oh because people are greedy.

Referrals are a great way to hire a cleaning company. Ask family or friends, which company they use. If you can't get a good referral, then I've written some steps you can take to find the right cleaning service. I used to run a cleaning business. All the cleaning services in my area advertised on Google mostly, but also on yahoo, bing, etc. The advertising is localized, so when you search "house cleaning services," the cleaning services in your area would show up. So finding a cleaning service isn't difficult. Now, finding the right one is the hard part. You have to ask them if they are licensed, bonded, and insured. Then, you ask them how long they have been in business. Now, for the estimate. Most cleaning services charge between $25-$60 per hour. Because of the complexity of the basement, it will be difficult to find a cleaning service that specializes in all those things. If a reputable company sees cockroaches and bugs, then they will probably not do the job. The basement should take 5-6 hours to complete. If it's $25/hour, then 5 hours is $125, 6 hours $150. If it's $40/hour, than it's over $200. Yeah, it is on the high side. But, if they see cockroaches, they will figure out that most companies won't do it. So, they might overcharge. I really think that you should get rid of the bugs, than get the cleaning company to come. Most cleaning companies do not quote per hour. (They do the estimate based on the hours they think it will take, but do not let you know that). You are more likely to pay a fixed price, than knowing you are paying $40/hour... And, most cleaning companies will not give you a price over the phone. They will want to do an estimate in person. That is acceptable. Conclusion: Clean out the bugs. Call 5-6 companies, most will do the free estimates. 2 to 3 will do the job. Than you decide.

Why do cleaning services ask that you not be home while they are there?

My grandpa is 86 and still lives alone. This past year his health has really started to decline. He has a nurse come in 3 times a week and my aunt has hired a cleaning services to keep the housework up. They have gone through several cleaning personal, my grandpa is a bit grouchy theses days and I'm sure he gives them a hard time, but they've also complained that my aunt was there while they were cleaning and they asked that she not be there. I was wondering if anyone knew why they require this?

I've never been around any cleaning service that asks that you not be there. The only reason why i think they would prefer you not be there so they don't have to work around your aunt and she's also not watching over their shoulder. They also may have had problems with your Grandpa if he's a growly bear. Would you want to work with someone growling at you all the time?

The best ones are always those recommended by others .... you then have first hand knowledge of the cleaning company's services..... however the alternative is to look through yellow pages and look at the ones that have a symbol to show they are registered.... generally these companies are accredited and carry a proper insurance should a mishap happen ... which hopefully with a good company it won't..... However you don't say why you want a carpet cleaning service .... if the dirt/damage to your carpet is too soiled or damaged then they may not agree to take your job on anyway..... what you should do is call them in and ask them to view the carpets... ask them how they would propose to clean and service your carpets .... make your judgement from what you hear ... perhaps ask if there is anyone local they would be happy to give as a reference for their work - if they're any good then that won't be a problem for them.....

That is outrageous! You can get your office cleaned for much less. Even Merry Maids is more costly than hiring a janitorial service which will cost you 10-15 dollars an hour.
