What countries is it legal to buy Zopiclone (Imovane) over the counter in a chemist?

What countries is it legal to buy Zopiclone (Imovane) over the counter in a chemist. I understand Portugal & Spain are 2 of such countries and also Bulgaria. Can any one give me positive confirmations to which countries do? (Legitimate reason for question.)

What jobs are there where you can mix chemicals/medicine and experiment to find cures?

Something b/w a pharmacist and chemist maybe? I don't know about a pharmacy technician though..... But I'd really like specific answers! Thanks!

pharmacists work in pharmacys/hospitals dispensing medication. pharmacy techs help pharmacists. pharmacologists research drugs, study effects, uses, etc.

Do you need qualifications to work in Boots chemist?

There's a job for 'Boots the Chemist' near me and I was pretty sure you'd need like some pharmaceutical qualifications or something to work with medicine, but my mum disagrees with me. Has anyone worked there or knows more than me? I tried to look on their site but it wasn't very clear. Thank you!

Question answered by Alastair

Only if you're the pharmacist and dispensing medicines.

Calling, nurses, doctors etc How do I work out what my medication cost's the National Health Service uk?

I don't pay for prescriptions due to receiving benefits. Do I work it out per prescription cost at the chemist which is £7.20 per item or go on the BNF website (or similar) to look at the manufacturer's prices??? If the latter, where can I find manufacturer's prices? Is the BNF website accurate?

Katie

Question answered by Sussex

the prescription cost (which is incidentally £7.65) is only a contribution as most medications actually cost more than £7.65. If you want to know the cost of your medicine ask the dispensing pharmacist he will be able to tell you easily as prices come up on the computer and they have a rough idea of how much things cost anyway.

Can a pharmacist not give a patient a contraceptive pill because their catholic?

I am a receptionist at a medical centre and a patient has just complained as the doctor prescribed her a levlen ED contraceptive pill, she has gone into the chemist and has been refused to get her prescription as the pharmacist is catholic.

Question answered by daddyrx

The Pharmacists' job is to help the public. His or her religious convictions have no bearing on someone elses health. If their convictions are such that they are not comfortable dispensing a particular drug, then they should have someone else dispense it. If no one else is capable of doing that then they have no choice but to dispense it. The patient has every right to lodge a complaint against the Pharmacist with the appropriate board of registration. I once worked in a small hospital with a Pharmacist who had similar convictions. He refused to give a drug to induce a medically necessary abortion in order that the mother could be saved. Both the mother and baby passed away due to his refusal. He lost his license to practice Pharmacy, was found guilty of manslaughter, and served a prison sentence. @Guest - I know what Levlen ED is for. Strict Catholics are against any form of contraception or termination, even when the mother is in grave danger.

Can someone tell me why this is a good laboratory technique?

A chemist should wait 10-15 seconds after dispensing a volume of titrant before a reading is made. Explain why the "wait" is good laboratory technique. Also, the color change at the endpoint of vinegar analysis should persist for 30 seconds. Explain why the time lapse is a good titration technique. Thanks.

Enon

Question answered by drbillmacmo

First wait = you are stirring or swirling the flask (or beaker). You are allowing the acid and base to react, ensuring that you have no "bubbles" of acid or base in the reaction vessel. Second wait = Air contains CO2 which forms carbonic acid in solution. THe longer you wait, the more CO2 is absorbed.

Why do pharmacies lie about generic drugs?

Chemists always try to push generic drugs and I have tried them. I have acne and take doxycycline for it. When I take the real brand medication, it clears my skin up perfectly. Every time I have tried the generic brand the acne starts breaking out again. I've tried this theory out several times for a month each time, so I know this isn't coincidental. Yet when I tell the chermist thus, they brush me off and say that generic is exactly the same! Why are they allowed to lie?

Lindy

Question answered by Joey

If you are having a problem with a generic, first tell your doctor so he can write the prescription "DAW" (dispense as written), then you may want to contact the manufacturer of the generic medication/ointment. They may be having a problem matching the exact formulation of the name-brand or quality control issues. Then, tell the pharmacist again and remind them that it is their duty ethically and by law to take your complaints seriously. Especially when it involves prescription medication. If he/she does not take your complaint seriously, ask to speak to the store manager immediately and if it is a large chain store, follow up with a letter to the corporate offices detailing your experiences, good and bad. Good Luck!

How do I report a DISPENSING CHEMIST FOR MAL-PRACTISE ??

How would I go about reporting a Chemist for mal-practice on several occations now I have been given the wrong pricscription tablets. After all ther a hundereds of trade mname drugs that do exactly the same thing.

Question answered by Dolphin

There should be a Board for that....if you can't get through to the owners.

What is the safest and most reliable way to dispense medications pill form, 2 times a day to 91 year old man?

Worried about him taking wrong doses or extra pills and want to know if pills were taken when they should be taken. He has pills to be taken in morning, and others to be given at bedtime

Dave

Question answered by J. Frost

My grandfather had the chemist put his perscription pills into a container that they supplied which has a row for each day and a section for morning, lunch, afternoon and night, they put all the pills in the correct spot and delivered it every fortnight, so all he had to do was open the right compartment to get the correct pills! I think its called a dosette box or similar.
