Question answered by
Hi My,
The Windows 7 system builders version is also called OEM. It is for system builders who build Windows 7 into the machines that they build and sell to people like you and me. The OEM version is also tied to the machine that it came with, meaning the user cannot move it to a different computer at a later time. Since you are (I am assuming) not a computer builder, you will need to purchase a full retail version, or an upgrade version (if you are running Vista) to Windows 7.
Hope this explains your question!
Cheers,

Are builders open to negotiations in selling their new homes?
Our real estate agent says that builders are not open to negotiating their price but would be open to negotiation with respect to upgrades. Is this true or is our agent pulling a fast one?

Question answered by Landlord
Your agent might be honest, but ignorant. Yes, you can expect there to be a 25% reduction if your agent is good. Sadly, yours isn't. Always have your own, never use the builders agent.
How much profit do home builders make off building an house?
I am looking into starting my own home building business but am trying to work with some numbers, specifically the average profit that self employed home builders can expect to make.
For example, if you sell a home for £200,000 how much was spent on the actual construction of the home and thus how much profit does the builder accrue?
Also how muhc would you have to spend for the basic electric, plumbing gas ect.

Question answered by GI Jane
Profit can be great, could be anywhere between 10k to 100k or more.. No straight forward answer, depends on the size of the home, the area, the detail of the home, etc... But this market is real tough for home builders, many sell at cost just to get rid of the debt. And many have a lot of construction sites on hold, they just can't sell the homes they already built so other projects are sitting around unfinished.
Also you need to consider making a name for yourself, sad fact is not many people are willing to hire a no-namer compay to build their home. And you don't likely have a name in the business, if you did you'd know how estimates and profit works in the construction world.. No disrespect, just trying to help out.. good luck
How do body builders afford their lifestyle?
I've always been wondering, how do body builders afford their lifestyle? How can they pay their bills and pay for things like gym memberships and food if they have to workout everyday for an extended period of time? Do they have jobs or do they get paid to lift? Please answer in detail.

Question answered by Forager
Well for pro body builders they make their money from competing. hence the word 'pro'. They earn from the sport (and other income streams of course depending on how much they earn professionaly).
For us that are not pro (yet!) we tend do have jobs! Simple as that.
Personally I train once or twice a day, work a full time job running my two businesses and am attempting to start up a third.
The biggest expense other than time, is food. I eat a lot and good food costs money. So I work hard to be able to train and eat well. Others may spend money on nice cars, holidays, whatever. I just choose to spend my earnings differently.
Who are some really good motorcycle builders in terms of custom bikes?
I would like to know of the bike builders out there, who has a good rep in terms of creating a bad @ss custom bike. Partly the reason why I'm interested is to see who can build me a bike called the "Hardy Daytona". It's a motorcycle that came out in the Final Fantasy 7 game and more than a cool concept, I think it would make an even cooler bike.

Can We trust Metricon Homes builders for our first home? Are they reliable & good home builders?
I am planning to build a big home with Metricon builders, Are they reliable builders? Should I build a big home with Metricon or not? If not what would be the reason?

Question answered by Max Powers
They are reasonably good quality and not to slow for going over handover date but they are bloody expensive there are much better and less expensive builders out there. Try some smaller companies who can give you more personal service for a better price (and are much less punitive for any variations you may want). The best thing you can do is talk to a customer of any builder who has lived in the house for at least 12 months. You can grantee they will be brutally honest about their experiences.
What can you do about sexual harassment from builders?
There's a building site just across the road from where I live and the builders working there harass every female who walks down the street. This is particularly bad for my neighbour who lives next door to the site and has to walk past them every morning on her way to work. They push stuff into her path so she can't get past and make sexist comments while standing close to her. It's happened several times now and she's beginning to feel intimidated and upset. Who should we contact?

Question answered by Cal
the best thing to do is video tape them, dont worry about being caught, just wait for a woman to walk past film them, even if its standing across the road in full view. most builder will advertise there company on the scaffolding or skip of were they are working, call them and ask for a contact email address, you might find the own is one of the works shouting sexist remarks, but by sending an email (dont just call) explaining your concern and tell them you have footage (even if you dont) and tell then you plan to take the matter further and involve the police if the situation is not controlled and dealt with asap, by there superior.
trust me those dim wits wont risk getting into trouble with police especially if they have just had a contract for work and if film footage is thretand, the boss will be strict. And rather than argue or ask for proof will just reply with an apology and promise a change
What are different builders paying their sales managers?
I'm doing a little research on what builders are currently paying community sales managers. I found that Ryan Homes pays 20K salary plus 1% of sales. Prospect pays 2% when no other agent is involved or 1.5% when working with a buyers agent. Does anyone know about other builders- small and big? Also, wanted to find out specifically about Centex Homes.

Which builders for a home improvement project?
From your knowledge/experience, would you reccommend Polish builders? Are they better, more proffesional, cheaper, reliable ? What is a general opinion about them?

Question answered by straycat
First I would cal the Better Business Bureau and see if any in your area have complaint filed against them. Then Check with local real estate office, many have good builder that assist them with home repairs before a buy will be completed and prospective buyers and the lenders require it to be completed to specifications .
Good Luck.
What can I do if builders have stolen from my house?
I have noticed that something has been stolen from my room in my house. No one else has been in my house other than the builders but because I don't have any proof, can anything be done about it? All I want is a replacement or reinbursment of what they have taken! This is theft and I am not going to let this slide. I have called up the builders and have reported it to the company but I haven't had much of a response as yet. Is it worth reporting to my local police station?
Hayz
Question answered by James Greg
Yes it is your right to get the police involved as the builders are not taking it seriously and one of their employees has broken not only their rules but the law also. It is your legal right to inform the police.
