Question answered by Gabriel

8 Blankets on my bed LOL.... you should get a Holmes portable heater, they are good for a room, but make sure your house has at least 15 amp breakers, otherwise it's going to trip and I believe you don't want to go in and out to turn it back on...

I need help planning an pajama jam (party) for adults.?

I'm hosting the party in my apartment. I'll be serving desserts and a signature alcoholic drink. I just need help with the following specifics: - should i do a BYOB admission? - how should i handle the music situation (dj, cds, music choice)? Overall, I want to plan a simple, but fun party. I want people to dance and mingle. If you have any suggestions to add to the above questions, feel free to share!

Ms. Boogie

Question answered by Rock Lobster

First of all, BYOB should always be an option - everyone loves to try a new fancy drink, but most adults also have their own personal favorite which they are most comfortable with. Regarding food, deserts sound wonderful! I would also make sure to have some salty snacks like popcorn, cheese curls, or frozen pizza. You can't get more authentic pajama party than that... If you have an Ipod, or a computer with great speakers, I recommend making a playlist ahead of time with songs that go with your theme and are great for dancing. If you dont, I would look for compilation cds at the record store - motown and/or 80's usually makes for a good time. To really amp up your theme, you should try to give a bedroom feel to your apartment. Blow up some air matresses and make some beds with blankets in open areas for people to gather on, scatter some classic white bed pillows around, either tear a pillow apart or buy some white feathers at the craft store and sprinkle around to add to the decor. A teddy bear or two also won't hurt. In case you hit a boring patch, or you find that half the people are dancing and the other half are just watching - make up some cards with Truth Questions, and some cards with Dares. This a classic sleepover game that everyone can have fun with - and because you are making the cards, you can taylor them to your group of friends. Don't be afraid to get creative, and have a blast!

Buying Electric Guitar for Daughter?

Getting her an amp all that she needs to play it. Is a gig bag a must have or can she live with it? What about a stand?

stop_staring_please

Question answered by GamBit

You didn't mention the age so, I will guess it to be around 14? but, incase you are talking about aged 10 or less, consider "mini" guitar that is available from Fender Squire. Fender is brand and Squire is their budget brand. If you google squire mini guitar, you will see what I'm talking about. If you are buying EG (electric guitar from here on..) for teenager, there are few things to consider. Do you think this is short lived faze? or long term hobby? if its short term, spend little as possible and local music store can sell you a package deals with guitar, amp, bag, lead and pick for couple of hundred dollars. Amps are usually practice amp of about 10watts of power but, just enough to hear what you are playing. Guitars are usually made in China and can look reasonable and play OK. If you are talking about intermediate player, once again, package deal with brand like "fender Squire" or similar for little extra money but, it would be worth the extra spent. If you are talking about advanced player, it is best to let her go to the store and try out few and decide on her own merit. Reasonable EG can cost from $500 upwards and some of the highly collectable can cost thousands. Guitar: I would recommend something like Squire strat (strat is model) as they are very versatile and comfortable to wear on your body. There even cheaper version of strat by company called "bullet" which is also under Fender's company umbrella. Yamaha also make good intermediate guitars. If they are into heavy metal, then choice is wide but, you also need bigger budget. Brand for Heavy metal can include, Jackson, Ibanez, Kramer, ESP, Gibson (or budget version of Gibson is Epiphone) and many others. Brand is just that! Label on the head of guitar but, they do make difference in performance and also within guitar players own awareness.. if someone wants Jackson or Ibanez but, end up with something else, they will end up losing interest and disappointed so, something else to consider. One note to think about is when I buy guitar, I try to avoid buying painted ones and always try to get natural finished guitars. This means, guitars with outer surface that shows timber finish as they look nicer but, also shows type of timber its made out of whether its Ash, mahogany, maple or what. Some of painted guitars are made out of multiple lemanation or better known as ply wood and there is nothing wrong with this as they are strong but, in the long run, they are just that! Cheap! I often hear people say get cheap one if you are learning.. I don't always agree with this as learning is difficult task and you need all the help you can get and having better quality guitar can make learning more pleasure. Amp: practice amps you get with package deal is fine but, once you get serious, you will need around 50watts of power output or more to be competitive. Stand: is optional and it is handy to have where you can put guitar on for short term but, leaving it on long term is not recommended as guitars can collect dust or have someone knock it over on stand. It is not necessary to have if you don't have budget for it as I used to place guitar on bed for short term if I wasn't taking it out of the house but, remember that you have your electric blanket off as heat can damage guitar. Gig bag: is fine to transport guitar around but, if you are talking about really protecting it, then ultimately case is better option. They are heavier to carry but, well worth the money spent. Its not must have item but, if you are not taking guitar out of the house, then you can always use the box that guitar comes in but, remember to store it properly to avoid having it stepped on and remember that box is usually only corrigated cardboard so, if you plan on using this for storage, have soft cloth handy to avoid scratching the guitar but, try to use non static material and make sure material doesn't shed fluff. Tuning device: this can be tuner, pitch pipe, tuning fork or piano to assist you with tuning of guitar. If guitar is not tuned in properly, it will sound terrible and if you tune it to wrong note, you will snap strings trying to tune it if you pick wrong register. Remember little things like, lead to plug guitar into amp, strap, picks, and extra set of strings.. there are many other necessary accessories like guitar tuner, effect pedals and more.. it can be expensive hobby but, if you do it right, you can end up spending just once on major parts but, if you do wrong, you will end spend over & over.. having said this, I am not saying you need to spend hundreds & thousands to set up properly but, just to evaluate the situation and seriousness of the hobby and start by going down to local music store and talk to sales people as most of them are players as well as sales people and start with around $200US and see where it takes you. Sometimes, you can buy used items at good value as well.. In conclusion? necessary components are; Guitar, Amp, Lead, Tuning Device of some sort and Pick. These items will start you off and other things can come later..good luck!!

Please answer, my circuit breaker tripped?

Hello, I bought my first home and lived here for almost a month now. I just woke up and noticed all of the power in my bedroom was off. I thought I had a power outage and called the electric company that happens to be closed today except for an automated power outage report line. So when I got up out of bed, I noticed that my other rooms had power, so I assumed that I just tripped a circuit breaker. I looked and one of the breakers had been tripped. My question is what could have caused the circuit breaker to trip in my room? I have a 15 AMP breaker and I do have an electric heater in my room that has had no problems for almost a month. Thanks, yeah I used a convertor to figure out that 15AMPS is only about 1500 watts and the heater uses 1000 watts, so I assume that triggered it. However I have been using it every night and it never happened before. I did unplug some small devices and moved them to another room to keep the wattage down. Do you know how much it costs for an electrician to replace the breaker with a 20 AMP?

Mr J Man

Question answered by Jim W

How big is the heater? If it is more than about 1500 watts and a 120 volt unit it just overloaded the circuit. If it was cold during the night the heater was on too long and the breaker was not able to cool off between cycles of the heater. Breakers work on heat dissipation from the current. Replace the breaker and get a smaller heater or add another blanket to the bed.

first off, i would suggest not getting brown bedding if you want to go with a black and white theme. Even with the tan walls, i would still suggest a black and white themed bedding, and you could add some tan assents with throw pillows. to make it a little more teen friendly, i would add one bright color into the mix, such as a light pink/purple/blue. you could add a bright throw blanket or small rug. I would maybe try this bedding, from the same website http://www.fingerhut.com/productgroup.aspx?offergroupxid=65784&categoryxid=&cmCategoryID=youmayalsolike&cm_vc=CrossSellProduct&originalofferxid=117407&proffer= it comes in all different color schemes: the black and white or taupe might look good.-just click on the picture to see the different colors. as for the pictures, try http://www.urbanloftart.com/productlist.aspx?id=7452&Source=GoogleAdWords&Ad=BlackandWhitePhotos&gclid=CKzk6ML87aICFQpf2godmA8odg OR http://www.art.com/gallery/id--c23951/black-and-white-photography-prints.htm if you are an artistic person, you could save money by buying a canvas and making your own pictures with charcoals, or anything black and white. Lastly, for the lil wayne part, im not sure how many nice pictures there are of him, but you could frame some concert posters or just general pictures of him to make it seem more high end. Good Luck!

Do you.........?

like your bedroom? What's it like? I have green walls, tons of posters, queen sized bed, leopard blanket, black satin pillows and sheets, guitar, amp, furniture (lol), white rug, etc. I like it.

Question answered by John 3:16

Yes that would be good to take her to the vet but here is good advice I found on how to take care of them, If it will help you more 1Set up a place for the mother cat and her kittens to live. Choose a box that is large enough to accommodate the entire cat family, but small enough to provide them with some level of protection. Put it in a quiet and warm space where the felines will have little worry about being hassled by people or other animals. Line the box with clean towels, sheets or blankets. Make sure the linens are clean before placing them in the box, and prepare extra items to use when the current ones need to be washed again. This must be done regularly, as the bedding the kittens and their mother are sleeping on can quickly become soiled. 2. Set up all of the mother cat's necessary items in close proximity to the box. She should not have to travel out of eyesight of her kittens when she needs to eat, drink or use the bathroom, so make sure her litterbox, food dish and water dish are nearby. While she is nursing her kittens, be sure to feed her a quality kitten food. She will lose weight or become unhealthy if not given extra nutrients while she is nursing, and it is also good for her body to have extra nutrients to pass along to the kittens while they are developing. 3. Make sure the mother cat has constant access to her kittens. She will clean and help them defecate for the first few weeks of their lives, so it is important she can get to them whenever they need to feed or go to the bathroom. If she leaves the box, make sure she can get back into it easily. Do not close doors or gates between her and her kittens. It is also important that you do not move the box with the kittens in it unless she is there when you are doing so. If she returns to find her family missing, she may become stressed and frantic while searching for them.
