What's the difference between a Moped Provisional & Car Provisional License?
"If you are 16 and already have a provisional licence for an agricultural vehicle or a moped, this will give you provisional entitlement to drive a car when you are 17"
Does a moped provisional licence look any different to a car provisional licence?
It says that a moped provisional gives you provisional entitlement to drive a car? Do I need to apply for a new one, or use the existing one?
So I might as well apply for a Moped Provisional?

Question answered by desert camel

What kind of land zoning does car parking or other vehicle parking fall under?
I am thinking about purchasing some land to construct into a semi truck parking lot and was wondering what kind of zoning it falls under.
The land I am considering is in a suburb of Chicago and surrounded by agricultural zoned farms as well as residential zoned homes. I would of course make sure that I can construct a parking lot there from the city but I was wondering what zoning it would fall under before looking for the land.
Thanks!

Question answered by cactusgene
That varies from city to city and one answer does not fit all cases. Call the city and get a hold of the municipal zoning code (its nowadays often available online for free) and that is the only way to make sure. However, a local Realtor also should be able to give you that info.
How did the agricultural transition effect early civilizations?
What were the positive and negative effects of the agricultural transtions
Robert Bethell
Question answered by Gerald Cline
Agriculture could support much larger populations. It required a society that was not mobil to tend the fields and crops, so led to the development of villages and eventually cities. This led to nations and empires. Empires led to bureaucrats. Think about that the next time you're standing in line at the Dept of Motor Vehicles.
Do I have to stop at the agricultural inspection station in florida?
I am moving from Michigan to Florida and I was told that I have to take my 26 foot uhal and stop at the florida agricultural inspection stations. My problem with this is that I am transporting my pets and they do not all have shots. They will be in cages and sedated. I am unsure whether a rented uhaul is required to stop or not?

From the regulations:
"Florida Statute makes it unlawful for the driver of any vehicle, other than those exempted by the statute, to pass any official agricultural inspection station without first stopping and submitting the vehicle for inspection. Those vehicles not required to stop include: private passenger automobiles with no trailer in tow, travel trailers, camping vehicles, van conversions, and motor homes, or pickup trucks not carrying agricultural, horticultural, or livestock products and which have visible access to the entire cargo area, or city, county, state, or federal vehicles."

how do i tax a quad bike as agricultural use?
what do i have to do to register a quad bike,as agricultural use only? What are the rules, and what is needed to register it for road use for this?
Paul
Question answered by Nightwrath
You can't.
If you wish to register it for road use, it automatically becomes a Category B1 vehicle (Motor tricycles, quadricycles and three or four wheeled vehicles with an unladen weight no more than 550kg). In order to register it for road use, it must have one of the following:
•European Whole Vehicle Type Approval system (E.C.W.V.T.A.)
•UK National Type Approval (Small Series)
•UK Motorcycle Single Vehicle Approval Scheme (M.S.V.A.)
None of the above approval systems will allow you to register it as an agricultural vehicle - but they are the only way you can get it registered for road use
why is it manufacturing industry make better GDP growth rather than agricultural did?

Question answered by Aleconomixt
The question and details are not relational.
All countries were agrarian economies before industrial revolution. It is not surprising that countries of Industrial Revolution had colonies almost exactly to that proportion i.e. the colonies did farming for them and they concentrated on making life comfortable by Power looms, Vehicles, Railroads concreting etc.
This answers details that " developing" countries which are ex-colonies remained agrarian because colonies are free only after WW-II.
The Growth rate of agro sector is almost 2% all over the world despite modern farming for various reasons, one being price control on farm products almost everywhere one time or the another. And most important..... farming is something you do for yourselves whether profits are less or more whereas industrial consumer products are made with sole objective of earning profits.
How to become an agricultural mechanic?
Getting out of the Marines soon, moving to Tennessee because after living with a farmer, agriculture seems like it would really be something I could do. I am currently a motor T mechanic and maybe my start is as a mechanic for farm vehicles and machines. How would I go about doing this? Any schools I can go to?
That doesn't answer my question....

Question answered by Clara Molee
The agricultural mechanics' skills overlap with those of other crafts within the motor family of crafts, therefore they are equipped to carry out some repair work on ATVs (All Terrain Vehicle - Quads) light and heavy commercial vehicles, earth moving equipment, forklift trucks and other vehicles.
You need to have technical ability and you must be good at solving problems. It is very important that you can diagnose faults and repair them quickly. You will also need knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. You may need to make new parts using machinery or hand tools.
You also need good communication skills, to explain to farmers how machinery works and to discuss faults and repair....!!
How is the everyday life of an United Kingdom citizen impacted by their economy and government?
I want to know about what is the cost of living in the United Kingdom? Are taxes high? Are there any good jobs? Is the cost of going to college cheap or high? Is it government funded? Is it better to take public transportation or are people able to afford for the most part a vehicle?

(1) Have you thought about this at all? How many citizens of the U.K. now work in the fields growing their own food as opposed to the days before the Agricultural Revolution? How many still make their own clothing rather than buying it in stores? etc.
(2) The U.K. was the first country to industrialize and, as a result, once had the highest standard of living in the world. Others have caught up, but it is still doing fairly well:
http://www.prosperity.com/
And the bottom 10% in the U.K. are much better off than the bottom 10% in the U.S.

(3) The U.K. has some large dense cities. You may have heard of London? In large dense cities, it is almost always better to take public transit than to drive yourself. London had the first subway system in the world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Underground
London taxis are famous, as are the busses.
On the other hand, in the remote rural areas, ...

And as for the suburbs:

(4) In education, the U.K. is somewhat behind most of the other developed countries:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Index
but is still clearly up with the developed group.
(5) More recently, the new government has instituted an austerity program. This is hurting the British economy and the people.

And as you can see, all of these answers are readily available on the web. You need to learn to do web searches.
Does anyone know any grants I could apply for for a hybrid taxi service?
I'm looking for either federal or private grants to start a taxi service using hybrid vehicles. Anyone know of any?
Stephen K
Question answered by imisidro
It is hard to find grants to start a business. Unlike the myths that some perpetuate, federal government and even private foundations hardly give grant money for starting a for-profit business.
One possible exception is for companies developing or exporting agricultural goods, including food and forest product. Another exception could be the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs http://www.sba.gov/aboutsba/sbaprograms/sbir/index.html , which fund the research and development of technological innovation that meets specific government needs.
Your best bet actually will be from the states if they offer grant programs for women (or any other special interest groups -- minorities, women, disabled, veterans, etc). Or check with non profit organizations, particularly women organizations if they offer grants. Examples include
Iowa Women's Foundation http://www.iawf.org/
New Mexico Women's Foundation http://www.nmwf.org/guidelines.html
Even SBA does NOT give out grants. From the SBA website http://www.sba.gov/mostrequesteditems/CON_FAQ2.html
"The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. (See http://www.sba.gov/financing for more information) While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments."
Nonetheless, you can go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. Browse through the listings and see if you can find any grant that would support a for-profit venture.
Here is a listing of federal grants for small businesses. See if there is any available for individuals for starting a business -- THERE'S NONE.
http://12.46.245.173/pls/portal30/CATALOG.BROWSE_BENEF_RPT.show
Most of the federal grants are given to specific target groups with specific requirements (e.g. minority business owners involved in transportation related contracts emanating from DOT - Grant#20.905 Disadvantaged Business Enterprises Short Term Lending Program
Grants are also often given to non profit groups or organizations involved in training or other similar activities (grant 59.043 Women's Business Ownership Assistance that are given to those who will create women's business center that will train women entrepreneurs
